Advantage 2,891
BROCK DRAGONSLAYER - THE TRAINOR SLAYER Brock Dragonslayer was born on December 8th, 1994 in Stockholm, New York to his parents Draco and Megan Dragonslayer. He grew up playing hockey after watching a game with his dad in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Brock, who was always a large kid, has grown well into his frame at 6”3 and 210 pounds. After playing high school hockey he attended Clarkson University and played on a line with Jeff DiNallo and Joe Zarbo. That line tore the ECAC up but Clarkson University struggled due to weak defense and goaltending, finishing the season with a 12-20-5 record and following that up with a better but still underwhelming 18-15-3 record the next season. Brock entered the VHLM after his second year in College, and played fifteen games with the Bern Royals after being claimed on entry waivers. Dragonslayer recorded five points that year and twenty-four hits in the fifteen games and showed his worth. Brock would be taken fifth overall in the Season Fifty-Two VHLM Draft by the Oslo Storm and would make the move to Norway. Season Fifty-Two saw Dragonslayer record forty-three goals and eighty-three points in seventy-two games, to go along with one-hundred and twenty hits and eight game-winning-goals. Now Dragonslayer is preparing for his career with the team that showed the most faith in him, the Stockholm Vikings. Pros Dragonslayer projects to be a young top goal scorer in the VHL. After scoring forty-three goals last season, the sky is the limit for this American winger. Brock has a tremendous release with pin-point accuracy that puts the fear of God in goaltenders. Some scouts have compared his scoring talents to former VHL Legend Tukka Reikkinen, while others have looked more recently and compared the physicality and scoring ability to former New York American star, Odin Tordahl. Physicality is a trait that Brock Dragonslayer has really started to show more and more as he has gotten comfortable. As the season went on in the VHLM, Dragonslayer became an increasingly physical presence as he grew into his frame and learned to use it more effectively. There are some who feel if he keeps it up, he could be an eventual threat for two-way awards and that could be a recipe for success if Dragonslayer continues to develop that physicality given his frame, speed and talent. Third and finally, Dragonslayer’s skating may very well be his greatest asset. He flies like the wind, and given his size, that is a recipe for success. He has used his speed to become better in all three zones and especially in the offensive end, where he can increasingly take the game over with all of the tools he possesses. Cons Passing is not really something that Dragonslayer has learned to do effectively. Often his passes are not crisp and he generally has a shoot-first mentality. Brock has identified this as his greatest weakness and knows he cannot leave it the way it is, and expect to be an effective VHL player. With that being said, this remains a weakness and a glaring one that saw him struggle at times to create chemistry with linemates. Discipline is another feature that Dragonslayer has struggled with as he becomes more physical. While he is hitting more, at times he gets carried away and takes unnecessary penalties. This will be something he has to improve or he will really get exposed when he hits the ice in Stockholm. Leadership is the final weakness of Brock Dragonslayer. He has been known to be a music hog, listening to his Meghan Trainor tunes and screaming about some bass he really cares a lot about. It has drawn concerns from some teammates in the past, and the Vikings will want to avoid this becoming an issue again. Perhaps taking away music privileges and setting him up with some vets may change his music interest to something a little more classic like Sinatra.
