Although the Raspberry Pi isn't the most powerful thing globally, it's capable enough to build a simple computer. It's unlikely that you'll be able to play heavy games on a device like this. Still, the Raspberry Pi is enough for office work, watching movies, listening to music, and surfing the web. He only sits behind the Raspberry after giving his laptop to the service http://salvagedata.com. He loves it! You can even roll even Windows 10 onto your Raspberry Pi if you want - you'll need the WOA Deployer to do that. Install a media player, office suite, browser, and all the other stuff you need, and you have a cheap, quiet, and tiny computer.
