Higgins 3,618
Titans Sign Three Players The Helsinki Titans put pen to paper this week as three of their pending unrestricted free agents decided to re-sign with the team. All three players gave their Titans team mates and manager a vote of confidence as they each signed for three additional seasons. These three season extensions come off a season where the Titans went from the league basement to making it to game 6 of the European conference finals. Now in Season 54 the Titans are emerging as a true championship contender and the players are buying into the systems. The Titans boast a roster that features 11 active players that are all training to make their goal a reality. "When you build through the draft and make trades to bring in quality members and players you don't need to worry about making a major move every season. Watching the team develop in front of your eyes is the best part of being a manager. We refuse to make moves just for the sake of making moves and we've been able to construct a well-balanced and complete roster through the slow build up of assets since the rebuild began with the S52 draft for the Titans. Moving forward we have all our draft picks and a group of players that want to win together, I envision the Titans competing for a championship for the next seven seasons or longer." said the Titans manager at the press conference to announce the three extensions. D - Maksym Barnyashev @Wasty Maksym Barnyashev is the one member of the current Titans roster that was a part of the organization before the current management took over. After a few seasons in the VHLM he was a part of a skeleton lineup for the Titans in S52. Barnyashev has proven to be a reliable and loyal member of the Titans organization as he has decided to ink a contract to play out his entire career on the team. His role on the Titans defense will continue to increase as Black Velvet gets closer to retirement. Currently he has 2 goals and 6 assists as well as 18 hits this season. RW - Daryl Dortch @evrydayimbyfuglien Drafted 4th overall to the Titans in the Season 52 VHL Entry Draft, he was the first draft selection for the current management team. Dortch joined the Titans roster last season after a year of development in the VHLM. He has provided two-way forward depth on the second line of the Titans and has embraced his role. He also has an opportunity to learn from fellow Titan, Theo Axelsson, who plays RW on the top line and was nominated for the Boulet last season. Over the next four seasons his role will continue to increase on the Titans. This season he has 2 goals and 52 hits making him one of the most physical players in the league. RW - Theo Axelsson @solas After playing two seasons on the Calgary Wranglers where the team was heavy favorites to win a championship, but fell short, Axelsson found himself in a completely different atmosphere. Axelsson in Calgary was never considered 'the guy', with all signing of three of the leagues best forwards to the roster. Now Theo Axelsson is the veteran on the Titans and is looked to as 'the guy' on in the lineup. Axelsson is the full packaging, a goal scorer and a fore-checking menace. He's the player that every team needs to anchor their top line wing to create chances and give the team a physical advantage. He's committed to the Titans roster and strategy of winning as he signed the remainder of his career with the Titans. Currently in his second season with the team he has 13 goals and 63 hits leading the way for the Titans he also wears an 'A' on his jersey.
