Slow and Steady

Throughout this whole VHLM season, Saskatoon Wild centerman Bo Boeser has put his name on the map. He has led the way for scoring for much of the season, but recently, he has experienced a slow down. This could be due to more depth coming onto the team, and likely is. Bo Boeser welcomes it, however.

"It's great that the upper guys went out there and grabbed some new players to help spread out the depth. There are some huge top teams in this league, so depth is always needed. If somebody is going to take down the Las Vegas Aces in the post-season especially, depth is going to be a big asset. It's also nice to not be so weighed down by expectations myself, although I don't mind it either. I love it when my team scores without me out there." - Bo Boeser

As it looks right now, Bo Boeser is 2nd in the VHLM in points. He has 52 points in 30 games, only trailing Las Vegas' Rusty Trombone, who has 63. Although, the goal scoring race is much closer with Boeser having 29 goals, and Trombone with 33.

One thing that Boeser doesn't have as much of as Rusty Trombone though is shots. Even though Trombone has 266 shots to Bo's 174, he only has those 4 more goals. It's only obvious that if Bo Boeser shot more often, that he would be leading in the goals category, and maybe even points.

Boeser also still remains at the top in centermen in the VHLM. With his 52 points, he is 20 points ahead of the next best, with his teammate Carlo Capitulo having 32. The minor system of the VHL seems to be weak up the middle, and Boeser is taking advantage. Things are looking risky for the VHL Draft in regards to centermen, considering Bo Boeser is already the property of the Toronto Legion. If Boeser was eligible to be taken by any team in this upcoming draft, you can bet he'd be up there in team's interests.

An odd stat to consider with Rusty Trombone having almost 100 more shots than Bo Boeser is their minutes played. Boeser has played 867 minutes, whereas Trombone has only played 773. Almost 100 less minutes of ice time for Rusty, while he has taken almost 100 more shots. It looks like he could be a bit of a puck hog compared to Bo Boeser, at least on paper.

Something big for Bo Boeser right now is also his 9 game point scoring streak. That is top in the VHLM as well, where a few guys share 2nd place with a 3 game streak. All of this also puts in perspective another leading stat that Boeser has, which is hits taken. Bo Boeser has taken 173 hits in just 30 games, which is really testing him out on the ice. The next most hit player is Yukon's Apollo Aho with 127, so that gap is pretty large. Bo Boeser has had a target on his back all season in Saskatoon, and you know that is not going to stop.
