With the magazine on a short hiatus to give those that are involved a break, we’ll continue to write our weekly article anyways because my players suck enough with max weekly TPE. The trade deadline was recently announced in the league this past week and with that usually comes the early trades. With not many players on the block it seems this season, teams around the league might stand pat heading into the crunch time. Today we’ll look around the league and try to identify some players that may be on the move before the weeks’ over.

:col:Kendrick Cole (Cologne)::col:

Cole was traded to the Express during the Season Fifty-Three off-season, a team that was hoping for a full rebuild finally. Although the team is right where they want to be in the standings, Cole hasn’t stopped his competitive nature as right now he sits just one point shy of a point per game. Cole leads the team in goals with twenty-seven and points with forty-seven points, and sits second on the roster in assists with twenty. Now on his fifth VHL roster since joining the Titans for his rookie season back in Season Forty-Nine, Cole hopes that he can find his final home for the rest of this season and next, but with the Express being sellers his name might come up as a depth piece for a competing club.

:tor:Jim Lahey (Toronto)::tor:

Lahey was another player that found himself a new home this off-season via trade. After being drafted by the Calgary Wranglers in the Second Round of the Season Forty-Nine VHL Entry Draft and spending three years in the province of Alberta, Lahey was shipped out of Calgary. Now the first player from the Cuffy agency to be outside Calgary, Lahey hoped to make a splash with the Helsinki Titans. With the Titans in full rebuild mode, Lahey was leaned upon to help the youngsters transition their game to the VHL. Now on this third club after the off-season trade to Toronto, Lahey again is being leaned upon to help the young upcoming players on the Legion roster. After seeing an increase in his offensive production while in Helsinki with the Titans, Lahey once again finds himself near the top of a young clubs scoring list. Lahey has put up nine goals and twenty-one assists in the Legions forty-eight games this season, numbers that are good enough to place him third on the team in points. With defense always at a premium in the VHL, Lahey might have his name brought up in trade talks as the week winds down.

:cal:Travis Gowecny (Calgary)::cal:

Gowecny has been on the block since being acquired by the Wranglers in free agency this past off-season. Gowecny is a player only in his fifth season in the league, but his lack of practice recently and high price tag has left him on Calgary to this point. With a career high in points posted back in Season Fifty-Two for Gowecny it’s clear his best days are behind him, but a quality second-line canter doesn’t fall into your lap every day. Now forty-eight games into the season, Gowecny is leading the team with his nineteen goals and twenty assists, something that might catch an opposing clubs eye if the price point lowers as the week drags on.
