The Round Robin Top 3

The World Cup has started yet and the group phases have been completed. After having played ten games each, hockey juggernauts Team United States and Team Canada have claimed the 1 and 2 seeds and qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament with a bye. Meanwhile Team World, Team Mercenaries, Team Scandinavia and Team Europe have one more round to play in which they can be eliminated.

The United States were the most dominant on the ice, with 40 goals scored they averaged 4 goals per game. The second highest scoring teams were Team world (who finished third) and Team Europe (who finished last) with 28 goals. As you can see a large difference. Defensively they just got one more goal ahead then Canada, making the USA a real dominant force. The only games they lost were against Canada, the runner up in the group. Travis Gowecny was the big man at their side with 17 points, but Diana Maxwell and Brock Dragonslayer were only one point behind them. Sir William Covington the Third and Pablo rounded out the players that got 10 points or higher. M.T. Power had a rough debut being lined up versus the Canadians, but won his other game. Apollo Skye went 7-1 and looks really solid for becoming the goaltender of the tournament.

While Canada was the only team to defeat the Americans, they had some more troubles against the weaker teams. They dropped one game each to the remaining competitors. Scoring for the Canadians was really balanced as Tom Lincoln, Unassisted, Vincent Virtanen and Xander Finn all had 10 points each. Black Velvet, Hudson Abbott and Lee King Snatch followed closely after. Rhett DeGrath started the most games and got a 5-3 record, while Marcus King went 1-1 on the remaining games, not a bad world cup debut for the rookie.

Team World ended up in the third overall spot and were being carried by the duo of Franchise Cornerstone and Pietro Maximoff. Both players are hattrick hero’s in this tournament. Franchise Cornerstone got one, while Maximoff topped it with 3 hattricks. Both players have more points then anybody on the United States team and a big reason World got to the third overall place. Aleksei Federov and Maksym Barnyashev supplied secondary scoring and Bobby Digital had some assists, as also at an international level he fails to score. Edwin Threencarnacion wasn’t the most lucky in his play. The goaltender is the only human goaltender (Team Europe’s backup is a bot) that was not able to win a game. Jakub Holok went 5-1-2 and could possibly contend Apollo Skye for the goaltender award. Team World has done a great job in the individual rankings as they both have the player with the most goals (Maximoff) as the player with the most assists (Federov and Cornerstone).

While the Canadians and Americans are off to the next round, the World has one more hurdle to take as they have to take upon Team Europe for a spot at the final four. Lets hope they can continue their stride and bring glory to the world!

@Higgins (it counted for both weeks right?)
