:vhllogo:Veteran Corner:vhllogo:

In our usual editions of Veteran Corner, we usually look at those older players around the league that have been stepping up when it matters the most. This week we were going to slightly chance gears and look at some veteran players that have been having a down year in terms of production. Each season the VHL see an influx of youngster ready to steal the limelight from the older players in the league, and some of these players we’ll look at today are victims of playing a young man’s game.

:col:Kendrick Cole (Cologne):col:

The veteran forward isn’t having the end to his VHL career that he hoped for after signing in Cologne during the off-season. Although Cole has never been an elite scorer in the VHL, he has put up three thirty goals seasons as well as two other twenty goal seasons, so the ten goals and twenty-three assists he has put up in this season is quite the disappointment. Cole doesn’t have much in terms of support from the rest of the Express roster, as only he and rookie Lyle Smallwood sit with over thirty points on the season. With the Express eliminated from the post-season already and the team looking towards the future, it’s a shame Cole had to end his VHL career this way, but unfortunately not everyone can be at the top of their game as they are on the way out.

:dav:Jack Kraken (Davos):dav:

Kraken has been with the Dynamo since being signed as a free agent by the club before Season Fifty-Three, and his time with the Dynamo and in the VHL as a whole has been a bust. Coming from an agency that wasn’t known for producing long lasting quality players in the league, the Jack agency was surprisingly given the reigns to the Stockholm Vikings when Kraken first appeared in the league. Kraken made his first appearance in the VHL during the Season Fifty-Two season, putting up thirty-one points during his rookie season. Now in Season Fifty-Five, Kraken has taken an even further step back appearing in all sixty-two games for the Dynamo but only seeing 952 minutes of ice-time. Kraken also appears to be on his way to a career low in goals and points this season as he has put up four goals and seven assists in those sixty-two games. With his time likely coming to an end in Davos after the season, it’s a mystery if the Iceland native will play in the VHL again

:rig:Fesler Klintos (Riga):rig:

Klintos is another veteran player that is horribly underperforming in the VHL this season, so bad so that some VHL goalies have more assists than the Season Forty-Nine draftee. Klintos is in his third VHL season after spending the past five seasons in the VHLM, but this season he looks to be another player that appears to be headed towards career lows as he has only put up six points for Riga this season. Klintos is averaging right around twenty-nine minutes a game, so unlike Kraken he has been given every opportunity to succeed this season. Klintos and the Reign will miss the playoffs this season, so his time in the VHL may be eleven games away from completion at this point.
