"Batman ain't shit," the gruff, greasy haired man behind the hard plastic goaltender mask said flippantly as he stood over the groaning form of a would-be purse snatcher. The blade of a hockey stick bounced playfully as he tapped it on the palm of his hand. "And neither are you, you scum-sucking puke." 

 

The youth on the ground moaned again as he rubbed his hand along his side, feeling his shattered rib cage. He tried to push himself up to his feet, to take a deep breath but couldn't. After a long and painful fit of coughing, he was finally able to gasp, "Wh-who are you?"

 

The greasy haired man grinned behind his mask. This was one of his favorite parts. This, and the fighting, of course. "I'm your instructor," he said, unable to keep the glee from his voice. "The class is Pain, 101. Your instructor is Casey Jones."
