:vhllogo:Veteran Corner:vhllogo:

After a slight modification on our usual Veteran Corner article last week with the incorporation of the league’s tenth anniversary themed point task. Now we sit in the thick of the VHL finals with a re-peat of the Season Fifty-Four finals between Quebec and Helsinki. With these two teams being the dominate teams over the course of the past two seasons, the VHL might have gotten bored of the same old teams in the finals but not us. Today we’ll once again look at the two teams in the finals, and into what veteran players are letting their presence be known in these playoffs.

In his second season back in the VHL after taking some personal time away from the league after his rookie contract expired, Kronos didn’t look to have the same impact for the Meute. In Season Fifty-Five with the Meute Kronos only managed to put up fifty-two points, which were forty-one less than Season Fifty-Four. Although Kronos didn’t have the same offensive impact in the regular season he or the Meute would have liked, so far in the seven playoff games for the team Kronos has again broken out. Sitting second on Quebec in points with three goals and five assists, Kronos has been helping lead the way in the playoffs for the Meute. Now in a two game hole against the Helsinki Titans, Kronos will need to elevate his game to another level to help his team get the monkey off their backs lately, which is beating the Helsinki Titans in the finals.

:que:Fabio Jokinen (Quebec)::que:

After being selected Third Overall by the Meute back in the Season Fifty-Two VHL Entry Draft, Jokinen has been improving steadily for the Meute, posting back to back eight point seasons. Now as Jokinen takes part in his second straight VHL finals, you can tell the Finland native doesn’t want to go home empty handed again this season. Jokinen has been a steady offensive contributor during the team’s seven playoff games, putting up an even three goals and three assists. Jokinen has also been doing his best to keep the puck away from Meute goalie Apollo Skye, as he sits second on the roster with fourteen shots blocked in those seven games. Now with Helsinki in the driver’s seat in the finals, Jokinen will need to step up his game and improve those around him if he wishes to have him name etched on the Continental Cup.

:hel:Theo Axelsson (Helsinki)::hel:

Theo Axelsson has been everything and more for the Titans since being acquired by the franchise in a trade with the Calgary Wranglers. Axelsson finished the regular season second on the Titans club in points with forty-four goals and sixty assists on the season. Now seven games into the Titans Continental Cup defense and Axelsson finds himself as the leading point man for the Titans. Axelsson has put up six goals and three assists during those seven games, with his six goals putting him in second place in the playoffs just behind Québec’s John Locke. After winning his first VHL championship with the Titans last year against these same Quebec Meute, Axelsson hopes that this season is much of the same, as he won’t have many more of these chances in the league as Axelsson time in the league draws closer to the end.
