Johnsson still looking for first VHLM goal

Yukon, CANADA - With the season underway, and the Yukon Rush's roster hiccups behind them, star defender Mats Johnsson has performed admirably. Through just 4 games, half of what all VHLM teams have played thus far, the Swede has amassed a whopping 8 assists, good enough for 6th in the league, to go along with a 1.32 P/20 (Tied-10th in the league)! He has also done a better than expected job on the defensive side of things, playing to a +4 rating (T-10th in the league) while blocking 6 shots.

However, the slick Swede has played a strict puck-moving role on the offensive end, with Chase Keller amassing most of the team's goals scored in the past 4 games. Indeed, Johnsson is still looking for his first goal of the season, and while 4 games isn't a huge stretch, the lack of shots taken is a bit troubling for those looking to see goals out of the offensive defenceman! With just 9 shots fired on target, Johnsson is drawing comparables to former Toronto Maple Leafs defender, Tomas Kaberle, known for his slick skating and passing abilities, the Czech defender drew the ire of fans with his apparent refusal to shoot the puck unless absolutely necessary! All of this worry is for nought, however, as with a team that has such star power as Keller and Phil Bennington up front, Johnsson is rightly taking the role of puck-mover and looking to push the pace offensively for his team!
