TheLastOlympian07 2,388
Anton Brekker was drafted by the Seattle Bears in the 1st round with the 4th overall pick in the Season 18 VHL Entry Draft. The Bears didn't always own this pick though as it originally belonged to the Calgary Wranglers. Calgary traded this pick to the New York Americans with Adam Blaine for Lars Berger, Hiro Renomitsu and a Season 18 Davos 3rd Round Pick (Roman Andreev). New York then traded this pick to the Seattle Bears with Erik Pysyk, a Season 18 New York 3rd Round Pick (Joey Clarence) and a Season 19 New York 2nd Round Pick (Adam Scharfe) for Keyvan Kljk, Alex Young and Emerson Hrynyk's rights. Season 18 - Seattle Bears Seattle had a very tough season in Season 18 if we are being honest. The team finished with 36 points which was waaaaaay behind the New York Americans who had 111 points and they held the final playoff spot. Brekker though had a nice rookie season with 41 goals and 35 assists for 76 points in 72 games. Other than that there was nothing much more to say about this season for Seattle. Season 19 - HC Davos Dynamo In the off-season the Seattle Bears decided to move on from Anton Brekker and traded him to the Madrid Thunder for Mason Dixon and a Season 19 Madrid 2nd Round Pick (Mikael Turris). Not to long after the Thunder flipped him to Davos for Pekka Jarmuth and a Season 20 Calgary 2nd Round Pick (Jake Woods). Very interesting stuff by Seattle and Madrid to give up on a young player so fast. Davos was a strong team in Season 19 finishing 2nd in the VHL with 106 points. This was just behind the Wranglers who held top spot and just above to the Riga Reign who had 100 points. Brekker had another decent season with 31 goals and 48 assists for 79 points which was a little better for his rookie season. In the playoffs, the Davos and Reign had a very good series and after 6 games the Dynamo would move onto the finals against the defending Continental Cup Champions, the Calgary Wranglers were there waiting for them. However, that Riga series seemed to take a lot out of Davos as the Wranglers swept them. However, the Wranglers were also a very strong team as well. Brekker had a very good playoff showing with 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points. Was this a preview of what was to come for Brekker? Season 20 - HC Davos Dynamo The answer to that question is yes, Brekker broke out in a big way in Season 20. Anton scored 54 goals and assisted on 63 goals for 117 points which was almost as much as he got in his first two seasons. The Dynamo were 1st in the VHL with 116 points which was just ahead of the Toronto Legion and the Riga Reign. The Riga Reign and Davos Dynamo had another great playoff series which went the distance. For the 2nd season in a row, the Dynamo would move on to the finals while Riga went home. In the finals, the Dynamo were facing a upstart Toronto Legion team who were building off a strong Season 19. The finals, were another great 7 game series which went in favor of the Dynamo. The Dynamo won the Continental Cup and Brekker had a fairly solid playoff with 5 goals and 6 assists for 11 points in 14 games. Season 21 - HC Davos Dynamo The Dynamo fell in terms of points with just 86 and being tied with the Helsinki Titans for the last playoff spot. However, with more regulation wins, the Dynamo had the tiebreaker. The Dynamo were 4th out of 4 playoff teams, 10 points behind the Riga Reign. Anton delivered on another great season with 43 goals and 75 assists for 118 points in just 72 games. In the playoffs, for the 3rd straight season, the Reign and the Dynamo went to war in the semis. This time the Reign were favored to win the series but in 6 games, the Dynamo ended up moving on to the finals. For the 2nd season in a row the Legion and Dynamo would play for the Continental Cup. However, instead of a epic 7 game series we got last season, the Legion were just better than the Dynamo and won the Cup in 5 games. Anton led the way in the playoffs for Davos with 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points in 11 games. Season 22 - HC Davos Dynamo The Dynamo bounced back almost to the top of the Euro in Season 22 with 99 points which tied the Helsinki Titans. However, this time the Titans got the tiebreaker and finished 1st with more regulation wins. Anton continued to dominate with 57 goals and assisted on 61 goals for another 118 point season. For the first time in 3 seasons, the Dynamo would have to play a new opponent. The Titans and Dynamo went to war and after 7 games the Titans would move onto the finals and for the first time in 3 seasons, the Dynamo would not make the finals. It wasn't Anton's fault though as he scored 5 goals and assisted on 7 goals for 12 points in 7 games. Season 23 - HC Davos Dynamo In Season 23, the Dynamo returned to their perch as top team in the VHL after a 111 point season. This was just ahead of the Titans who had 107 points. Anton recorded his 4th consecutive season of 100 points or more with 40 goals and 70 assists for 110 points. At this point Anton has proven himself to be one of the VHL's most dangerous players. In another epic showdown in the 1st round, the Dynamo and Titans renewed acquaintances in the semis. After 6 games the Titans would semi upset the Dynamo in 6 games. After three straight final appearances the Dynamo have now been knocked out in the past two playoffs in just the semis. Anton had a decent playoff with 1 goal and 6 assists for 7 points. Season 24 - HC Davos Dynamo If Davos wasn't considered a dynasty before Season 24, after Season 24 they should have been. The Dynamo finished with 110 points which led the Euro once again. Anton was one of the leading forces once again with his 5th straight season of 100 points or more. Anton scored 42 goals and assisted on 63 goals for 105 points. After many predicted a great series between new rivals, Helsinki and Davos, the Dynamo ended up beating Helsinki for the first time in 3 seasons. The Dynamo returned to the finals for the first time since Season 21. In the finals, the Dynamo would renew rivalries with the Toronto Legion. After a good 6 game series, the Dynamo were Continental Cup Champions for the first time since Season 20. Anton, didn't have as good as a playoff as we were used to as he scored 5 goals and assisted on 3 goals for 8 points in 11 games. Although, I am sure it didn't matter to him as he just won the Cup once more. Season 25 - HC Davos Dynamo After winning the cup in Season 24, many predicted maybe a small regression for Davos, that didn't happen as they finished with 102 points which was tops in the VHL. Anton Brekker had his 6th consecutive season with 100 or more points with 41 goals and 59 assists for 100 points exactly. It was his final regular season in the VHL and he made sure he went out with a bang. The Dynamo would not play the Riga Reign or the Helsinki Titans for the first time in a long time as the Vasteras IK team has been rebuilding and finally in culminated in them reaching the playoffs in Season 25. The Vasteras team gave them a good run but in 6 games the Dynamo moved onto the finals once again. Waiting for them was another new playoff adversary in the New York Americans. However, 5 games was all it took for the Dynamo to win back to back Continental Cups. Brekker led his team in scoring with 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points in just 11 games. He also scored 349 goals and assisted on 474 goals for 832 points in just 576 games. He also was a good playoff scorer with 77 points in 70 games. Anton is a Hall of Fame player that all future Davos players strive to be.
