A poor start to the season put the Davos Dynamo out of contention for the playoffs before they were ever even considered but a late surge has seen them at least remain relevant. What was once seen as an easy out may not be like that anymore as the Dynamo remain a thorn in the sides of other teams. They are 10 points back of the Calgary Wranglers but they have been a team to watch out for ever since the mid point of the season and despite trading away their star defender Felix Savard they have not missed a beat, showing it was more then just his booming shot putting them where they were. They have won their last three games and players like Ko Kane and Jeff Gow have been instrumental in their second half turnaround with both S57 players putting up solid numbers in their contract seasons.

Kane has been re-signed for one more year with a player option for the second season but it seems the relationship between the team and the player has remained stable. All signs point to Kane accepting the option and staying in Davos for their period of contention which could begin as early as the next two seasons with a few smart moves. Another season 57 player who has recently signed an extension in Davos is Shawn Brodeur who will himself see out the rest of his career in the purple and black. The young goalie has been the teams MVP so far this year and it is looking more and more like he will be the one of the best goalies in the league once the current slew of veteran net minders retire or see their play drop off. A core of players who were once seen as youngsters are already becoming the veteran part of one of the leagues youngest teams. While Gow has yet to accept a contract with the Dynamo for next year his performance this year has been solid and the two have remained in constant discussions on a new deal.

The youth of the team has struggled this year but it is to be expected. The Charm has finally found his game and is finally looking like a VHL quality player. The Irish centre has 32 points this year but he struggled so much early in the season that these numbers reflect a turnaround. Season 59 first overall pick Joseph Bassolino has struggled as well but has been a consistent leader on and off the ice for the team and is starting to see his efforts in practice rewarded on the ice. Brandon Hood may have benefited from a bit more VHLM time and has struggled a little here and there. The team will look for some improvement there before the next season. The two season 58 Dynamo players have both done well this year too with Sobeck at one point having been the teams top forward in points and the newcomer, Kriztof Mueller, looking reinvigorated in his new surroundings. Only time will tell if Mueller can be anything more then a depth piece, but if early indications are anything to go by, he certainly seems to have found a new lease on life in Switzerland.

The Dynamo should finally graduate Season 58 first rounder Dragon McDragon after this year. He has had a slow development but he is finally looking like the player they spent a first round pick on and should  slot in to the place left void by Felix Savard's departure. This year was not the year many in Davos had hoped for, but there are some promising signs going forward.
