The draft goes just as Davos hoped.

In anything let alone a sim league like the VHL it is difficult to predict things. It relies way too much on guess work and hope then on anything you can control. This is maybe most clearly evidenced in my outstanding zero TPE prediction score from last season. That's right I literally didn't predict a god damn thing. However as the draft got closer and I got talking to other teams and prospects available it became clear that the draft might actually go the way I thought it would, but most importantly, the way I needed it to. The first pick was obvious from day one. Dragomir has all the makings of a franchise changing player who can be a 300 TPE rookie and should be the main player in the rookie of the year race. After a confusing trade, Quebec wound up with the top pick which they made the obvious pick. Up next Calgary took Oyorra Arroyo who, while being a first gen player, has potential to be something special and filled a need for the Wranglers.

At number three it was really a no brainer. For a few weeks now I have been crossing my fingers hoping Noel Roux would slip to me at three or if I got two in the lottery. Either way, while it is rare teams get their guy at number three in a league like ours, this time I was very happy with my choice. We are trying to figure out the long term plan for him but with a franchise defender already on my team in Ko Kane, it seems like it might make more sense for him to move up front at some point. Whether that is this season or next or sometime later in the future, I know I have a warrior who will go to bat with me for the foreseeable future and a guy I can trust.

The next few picks saw Jóhannes Vilhjálmsson go to Calgary which is a team shaping up to be a power house in the not so distant future. Would not be shocked to see them in the finals as early as next season, but the Americans will obviously be a tough out. Next up Quebec selected Bryce Zhields who is a player you will get three solid seasons out of him and even though he will always have a touch of loyalty to New York, he will be loyal to Quebec as long as he has to be. Next up, I had the sixth pick and it was another easy decision and one that may have made another decision even easier. Billy Pilgrim was ort of an under the radar prospect all year that no one seemed ot talk about. He has almost 160 TPE and has updated almost all, if not every single, week that he has been a member. Seems like a good guy from the limited interactions I have had with him. Never the less, he seems every bit the type of first generation under the radar player who can contribute not just as a player but as personality as well. I don't now what his ceiling is because it is a first generation player, but I can easily see a very good partner for Kane going forward. Now with Jardy back, I should have at least three solid defenders going forward for Davos.
