omgitshim 901
We were all waiting for Calgary to come alive, but I don't think anyone was prepared for what was coming. Currently, the Wranglers are on a 9 game winning streak, tied with the Titans for longest active streak, and their most recent win, a 3-2 slugfest in Riga, gave Calgary enough points to tie the Reign for 4th place overall. While some may discount the actual validity of the win streak given that four of those wins were against the Legion, there were also two wins a piece against both the Reign and HC Dynamo, the two teams that Calgary has overtaken in the standings during this time. The Wranglers face both those teams again before a potential double digit streak showdown matchup against the Titans. It's fair to wonder if the Wranglers would have been able to string off 9 straight wins had they played any of the big three of Titans, Americans, or Bears during that span, but let's take a look at the bigger picture. Calgary is actually 20-5 over their last 25 games, and have a record of 3-1 against the Americans and 1-1 splits against both the Titans and Bears over that span. While it's unrealistic to think that Calgary has a legit shot at sneaking into the top 3 by the end of the season, they are definitely a team no one wants to face in a playoff series.
