Hello, VHL.

It's been a while. I haven't posted in here in about a year, and the last time I graced y'all with a media spot was back in November of 2015 (side note: I'm assuming I'm still the only person who has been traded twice by the same team at the same time). In the last two-and-a-half years, my life has changed quite a bit. I received my second college degree and am going back for my third (albeit my first bachelor's), I bought a house in December, and I just started a new role for my employer of the last seven years a month ago. I also achieved my lifelong goal of being paid to write about sports when I started getting paid to write for SB Nation's Buffalo Bills site, a role that peaked with me appearing on the team's flagship radio show and later allowing me to interview an NFL Hall-of-Famer.

That said, it seems like the VHL has gone through some changes as well since I bailed on the league right after Toronto burned a first-round pick on me in what was apparently one of the most unfortunate drafts I could possibly imagine in Season 46. Case in point: the last time I wrote a media spot it was graded, and that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. I've picked up on a few of the changes, but I'll use my first media spot to see if someone can clarify the finer points for me.

First, the point task week is still Monday to Sunday, right? Was it ever?

Second, if I'm reading the media spot guidelines correctly, people are allowed to post multiple media spots in the same week and take the credit over the course of the next few weeks. I glanced at a few media spots on the first page of the forum, but none of them seemed to have their word count or intent to use this rule posted. Is this still a thing? I hope it is, because it'd help me a lot once school starts up again in August.

I also see that rookie profiles and biographies are still around. Are they also subject to the instantaneous point availability rule, or do they need to be graded still?

On to the TPE system, I see the point scale has been re-jiggered. That was long overdue, but I also see that the weekly TPE cap is now 12 as opposed to nine (I think) when I left the league. Has there been any re-definition about capped versus uncapped TPE? Are there newer ways to earn TPE that weren't around back in the day, and are any of them relatively superior to writing media spots or doing graphics?

Where the fuck is Jardyscrub? Is he off banging Flute Girl?

What's new in the VHL? I'm told Toronto shook off the failure of drafting three first-round busts in my day to three-peat as league champs, which is neat. Have there been any major records broken from the early days? On that note, is the league still using the same version of STHS to sim? It looks like it, from what I can tell, and in looking I would like to say that I approve of the game summary pages.

It looks like the playoffs just started, so that's neat. What does the playoff system look like with only one division? Does it still run forever, or does it just seem like it runs forever for everybody who isn't still playing?

How about the draft? When is that? I'm assuming I'm only going to be in the VHLM one. Speaking of the VHLM, is there anything new with that? Does anybody care about it yet?

I was going to stretch this out to 1,000 words to count for two weeks, but at this point I'm just rambling and only around 650 words. If someone could help to catch me up on what I need to know (thanks to DT for a quick rundown via messenger), I can get something a little better together for next week.

Yes, and I believe it always has been. This is not something that has been changed

You can't post multiple. You can post one that has more words. If you post one that's 1000 to 1499 words, it can count for 2 weeks. If you post one that's 1500 to 1999 words, it can count for 3 weeks. If you post one over 2000 (or at 2000) it can count for 4 weeks. Has to technically all be the same one though

Still around, also you can claim them right away. Grading isn't much of a thing at all now, some stuff gets "reviewed" but that doesn't do much unless there's clearly something wrong

Press conferences are new, you can get 2 TPE for them. You can ask questions, answer questions, or a combination of both. Also, 590 is now 2 TPE.

He's here periodically, just not often

No major records that I'm aware of. You can probably tell there was contraction, not sure if that was yet a thing when you were here. Same STHS.

4/5 play in a best of 3 WC round. 1 plays the winner, 2 plays 3, and from there on out it's best of 7 like always. Often there are 2 games in the same round simmed at the same time to try to speed it up a bit.

VHLM is down to 5 teams now, everyone makes the playoffs (same format as VHL with 4/5 in a best of 3). Most of the vets are still not super into it. There's enough noobs now though that the interest is there from them. Beaviss (VHLM Commish) used some of the Donation funds to pay a big youtube guy (Tactix HD) to run an ad at the beginning of his videos (twice so far, about a month and a half apart) and it's working for getting them in, although retention is an issue. Since the VHLM is 5 teams, it's been actually going into the 5th round or so. You'll be in that, and likely not the VHL one until the following season.

The TPE opportunities are definitely there to get that 12 Capped per week.

You can do your Media Spot for 6, or pay some player money to up that to 7 as usual.

Press Conferences give you 1-2 TPE per week, or I think more if you ask questions and give answers.

GM Pay is a thing now, and it's 2 TPE per week.

Reviewing you can earn up to 2 TPE per week, just like Grading was. It's basically grading but without a rubric. Just give some comments on the article, make sure it hits the word mark and you're good. No reducing the score unless the word mark isn't reached or it's glaring with some other problem. It's just that reviewing isn't popular at all, the only people that do it are me, the head guy, and 1 other guy, sometimes 2.

There's Practice Facility for uncapped. It's an activity check where if you're in the VHLM you get 2 TPE per week for posting in it, and 1 per week if you're in the VHL.

Then there's the VHL.coms and Fan590s as usual.

In that case, this probably needs to be updated:
