Joubo 77
Name: Jorgon Weyed Age: 22 Position: RW Style: Defensive Power Forward Height: 6'2" Weight: 210lbs Birthplace: Scarborough, ON Shoots: R Jr. Career 2017-2018 - Mississauga Rattlers 68 GP - 27 G - 25 A - 52 P - 262 PIM - 179 Hits - 11.2 SH% - 1088 TOI 2016-2017 - Mississauga Rattlers 67 GP - 24 G - 20 A - 44 P - 270 PIM - 168 Hits - 10.7 SH% - 1072 TOI 2015-2016 - Mississauga Rattlers 68 GP - 20 GP - 15 A - 35P - 204 PIM - 135 Hits - 10.8 SH% - 952 TOI Strengths - Strength: Listed at 6'2" 210lbs, Weyed's frame allows him to use his body to push around opposing defensmen in the offensive zone. An eye for taking the body, Weyed loves crushing forwards in the neutral zone or in the corners while digging for pucks. - Stick Checking and Shot Blocking: Using his long reach, Weyed will lift your stick and steal that puck like he'll steal your girl. Unafraid to come up from behind you and reach around, taking not only your breath away, but also the puck. Using his frame and his lack of fear, he'll dive in front of any puck. Feet first, head first it doesn't matter as long as the puck stays out of his net. - Defensive Awareness: Using his strength and size, plus a quick stick on the ice allows Weyed to place himself in the right position during opposing pressure. Seeing gaps and closing them down with either his stick or body allows for quick takeaways and quick passes up ice to streaking forwards. Weaknesses - Discipline: Sometimes that big body can be a burden as he can be late to check opposing players after they've passed the puck. He can lose sight of the puck during board battles and take unnecessary holding penalties as well. Though his biggest drain on his PIM is fighting majors. Always willing to stick up for the stars, dropping the gloves a total of 45 times in 68 games last season. 12 multi fight games in that span didn't help either. - Slap Shot Accuracy: Never known to be a point man, Weyed has the power but not the accuracy. Taking a total of 36 clappers last season, only 9 connected with 1 going in. Don't rely on him to score from the point, but if you want to make opposing defenseman jump out of the way, then by all means let him shoot it. - Agility: He might be the big body and an above average skater, but he won't wow you with his edges. This doesn't stop him though from running through opposing players and is quick enough up the ice that this is less of a weakness than a speed bump in his development. Final Thoughts If you're looking for a solid denfensive forward, with a nose for the net, then this is your guy. Solid in all three zones, brusing body and attitude. If you're worried about the PIMS, just wait until you see him in action. With training and a good coach/management that can be lowered. Great prospect with some rough edges. DollarAndADream 3,357
Review: Over 500 words, so you hit the word mark there. Great write-up .Always fun to see defensive forwards in the VHL. Most people go straight for offense. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/52304-jorgon-weyed-rookie-profile-12/#findComment-559123 Share on other sites
