Canada's bid for gold at the World Junior Championships could not have gotten off on a better foot. Through six contests the canucks are unbeaten with 27 goals for and 17 against. The winning recipe seemed to click right from the get go. Canada's opening contest resulted in a dominant performance over Team World. 46 to 13 were the shots on goal; 5 to 2 the final score with Jake Davis recording a hat-trick. Game two vs Europe resulted in a much closer affair; a 4-2 win lead by Anthony Dabarno's two goals and Kevin Weeke's 28 saves. Game three, a rematch vs Europe was more of the same; a tight fought match resulting in a 3-2 win. Kevin Weekes continued his hot play with 25 stops. Game four, perhaps the game many fans circled on their calendar, was against the United States of America. Canada took the game 4-2 and put up a shot total of 52 to Team USA's 29. Kevin Weekes continued his hot play with 27 saves.

The two biggest tests of the tournament came in the most recent matches; games 5 and 6 vs Team Asia. Canada took both contests; the first by a score of 6-5 and the second by a score of 5-4. Canada's strongest opponent came to play and gave them a run for their money. Odds makers are predicting these two nations to make the final.

Team Canada's top performers

#1 - Kevin Weekes @Lefty. Good goal-tending wins games. No exception here. Weekes ranks as the 2nd best tender of the tournament behind the USA's Ismond Kingfisher. Through the six contests Weekes has earned a .918 S% and 2.83 GAA.

#2 - Jake Davis @Reives. Davis has been consistent and reliable amassing 7 goals and 5 helpers including the hat-trick in the tournament opener.

#3 - Leph Twinger @DollarAndADream. The reining VHL first overall selection has played up to his hype posting 4 goals and 7 assists.

#4 - Cayden Saint @Symmetrik. Team Canada's defense is their obvious weakness. Saint is the exception. His 11 assists are 2nd in the tournament behind Asia's Dylan Nguyen.

#5 - Julian Borwinn @Jubo07. Among the talks for first overall this off-season, Borwinn has championed Canada's 2nd line and produced 4 goals and 5 assists.

Canada closes out the round robin with games vs Team USA and Team World. With 18 points in 6 games they have already clinched first place in the round robin.

Claiming for week of Sept 10-16 (+2)
