Zabby 37
Name: Ryan Zabby Position: Center Shoots: Left Number: 11 Height: 6’6” Weight: 140 lbs Ryan Zabby is a tall lanky beast of a prospect who weighs nothing. He focuses on having a strong offensive game, with good skating but also not a slacker in his own zone. He will never hit despite his size cause hitting is for idiots, he much prefers using his stick. He hopes to become a solid 2 way player with an offensive touch to his game but might end up being poor defensively. Strengths Skating Zabby is an excellent skater for a 16 year old who's 6’6, he utilizes his edges effectively and has an explosive first step and high-end top speed. There’s definitely room for improvement there but he seems to be focused on becoming a great skater because he knows you need speed and skill to become an elite player. Scoring Zabby likes to use all different shot types, but his main shot is a snapshot or wrister. His snapshot has drawn a comparison to Phil Kessel and Max Pacioretty for how quick he gets it off and how powerful and accurate it is. It’s something he will be looking to improve on in the future. He knows where to sit on the ice and can let it rip from almost anywhere in the offensive zone. Passing Everyone knows a Center needs to know how to pass. Combined with his solid but improving Skating and Scoring ability his Passing compliments those abilities making him a deadly force and unpredictable. At any moment Zabby can unleash his deadly wrister, or use his incredible vision and hockey IQ to send a cross-ice pass tape to tape. Not-Strengths Checking Zabby isn't a checker and probably will never be one, he's especially bad at body checking and prefers to use his stick when he does get dirty. He needs to improve this to complement his 2way game but wants to focus on the offensive portion of his game. His defensive side of the game is decent in terms of positioning but this is really the area he needs to mostly improve on since Centers need to be able to get the puck back quite a bit all around the ice. Fighting He doesn’t fight and will never fight because that's for scrubs who can't score. Some might think of this as a weakness but in Zabby's mind, he actually thinks of this as a plus since he won't spend time sitting in the box for no reason and can be on the ice actually contributing in meaningful ways. "Don Cherry can suck it." - Ryan Zabby was a quote that garnered backlash on his Twitter account last Sunday. Strength Zabby needs to work on his strength he's very lanky and needs to fill out his massive frame but he's also not worried about this affecting his game due to his great skating ability. He can get pushed off the puck easily but his hockey IQ seems to help him get past this. He has a tendency to bounce off of people when going into the corners and also sometimes gets Bambi legs because of how tall and lanky he is.
