Dtayl 104
Las Vegas - Today here at the Las Vegas times we had a very special guest come in and write an article. That special someone is Dylan Nguyen of the Halifax 21st, and the topic of his article is his dear friend Alexander Pepper. Pepper is currently the goalie for the VHLM Las Vegas Aces. Starting in the next paragraph Nguyen will talk about his friend Alex Pepper. Alexander Pepper is one of the hardest working and most dedicated people you will ever meet. I remember talking to him on draft night and thinking to myself ‘this kids got the juice’. I knew Alex was special and that he was going to be great in the VHLM. Boy has he proved me right, I mean the kid is an absolute monster between the pipes for the Aces. I enjoy talking to him and hanging out with him, he can down a beer like no one else. The best thing about Alex is his drive, I remember talking to him before the World Juniors and saying how he could start for team Asia. The next morning he was announced as the starting goalie for Asia. He really has a drive to compete. Playing with him during the World Juniors opened my eyes to that even more. He was the best teammate you could ask for, day in and day out. Everytime we lost he would go over film, go through how he could improve and never put the blame on anyone else. He help me work through my struggles on defense too. When we lost in the finals it was hard on him, he thought he let us down but honestly, he did better than anyone expected. I took him out for drinks after Worlds and you know we decided Silver is better than nothing and there is always next time. The way that he takes the losses shows how committed he is to winning and that is something that is great to see in any young player. I really admire Alex and the way he handles himself on and off the ice. He is always humble, and is never in the news for the wrong reasons. He tries his best no matter what, and is always trying to hype the team up. I also admire the love he has for Vegas. He’s a native of Vegas and I’ve talked to him about it and he says there is not a better place in the world. He really puts the city his back every night and gives them his all. It’s something I wish I could do. Vegas should be extremely grateful to have such a talent playing for them. I won’t get too in my feelings here but Alex, you are a genuinely great guy, and a beast of a goalie! I wish you the best during the rest of your VHLM tenure and the rest of your career. I hope that we get to play as teammates in the VHL one day. Most importantly I hope when the time comes to represent Team Asia again, we destroy those damn Canadians and bring home GOLD!
