The Charm and Ko Kane

The Charm joined the Victory Hockey League in Season Fifty-Nine, via the leaguesGeneral Manager rule with the HC Davos Dynamo. Although his entrance to the league wasn't quite as flashy as many of the players that enter through the draft, he would have to be considered the best Season Fifty-Nine prospect in the league today.

When The Charm entered the league with the Dynamo in Season Fifty-Nine, the Swiss based franchise were in a transition period. The Season Fifty-Eight season brought in the First Overall pick after a 26 point 8th place finish, so The Charm was one of two building blocks the team was bringing in. In his first season in the league The Charm was the second best forward right off the bat on the roster behind winger Jeff Gow, finishing the season with twenty goals and eighteen assists. The Season Fifty-Nine version of the Dynamo were going nowhere fast, but The Charm keeping plugging along looking towards the future.

Season Sixty was a better season for the franchise and The Charm was well. The team finished the season with more wins then losses, which hasn’t been seen in Davos since before Season Fifty-Eight. The Charm was the one leading the charge fro the young franchise, leading the team in goals with thirty-five, and points with seventy-two. The young forward from Ireland finished the season with a point per game, with seventy-two points. The Charm and the Dynamo also returned to the playoffs in Season Sixty, , although it was short lived it was valuable experience moving forward. The Dyanmo played three games against the Calgary Wranglers, losing two of those three games. The Charm was unable to put the team into the conference finals putting up one goal in those three games. The Dynamo and The Charm were unable to make any noise in Season Sixty, but as we said earlier the experience for the young team was great moving into Season Sixty-one.

Season Sixty-One had a different vibe from the previous two seasons The Charm was on the Dynamo roster. The team added some veteran players around The Charm and the rest of the Dynamo roster, including Gabriel McAllister and Slava Aleksei. The Dynamo didn’t enter the as underdogs this season and were looking at a dogfight for the top spot in the VHL with Calgary and the Helsinki Titans. With McAllister on the roster The Charm wasn’t going to be leaned on as heavily for offense with would do him wonders. The Charm would go on to have his best regular season in the VHL, finishing tied for second on the roster in points with seventy-seven. After posting career highs last season, The Charm would shatter those records with thirty-six points and forty-one assists. The regular season was just the start as the Dynamo finished third with 107 points, which put them in a playoff conference final match-up against the Helsinki Titans. The Charm would put up eight points in the seven game series against the Titans to help push them into the finals against the Calgary Wranglers. The Wranglers entered the finals as the favorites, but the Dynamo pushed the Wranglers to a seventh game, where The Charm took over with a one goal three assist performance. Although The Charm didn’t win the Kanou Trophy for his amazing game seven performance his 4 point game didn’t go unnoticed by those in the franchise.

The Charm and the Dynamo found common ground in contract talks and he found himself back with the Dynamo in his fourth season in the league. The Dynamo entered the season with the highest expectations since The Charm joined the team, but so far the team hasn’t delivered despite The Charm having another career year. The Charm has put up forty goals and forty-one assists so far in the Dynamos sixty-six games, but the team sits third far behind the second place Meute. The Charm has quietly gone on to put up 268 points in his 282 VHL games so far, which although isn’t earth shattering it shows the steady hand he comes leading the way offensively for the Dynamo.
