Ottawa just won the Founder's Cup. Joseph McWolf is sitting in the locker room, halfway through taking out his gear and he's just lost in his thoughts. Others are celebrating, and he will definitely get to it in a minute or two, but right now, he's just following where his mind leads him. A couple minutes ago, he was lifting the cup at the center of the ice, in front of loyal Ottawa Lynx fans. He capped off this brilliant run with a strong 2-assist, +3, 5-hit and 2-blocked shot performance. Very possibly his best game of the whole playoffs. McWolf rarely takes the spotlight, but it just felt so good, playing at such an impressive level in his last ever VHLM game, in such an important setting, in front of Lynx fans that followed the team all season. This just feels so unreal for him. This is like a dream come true.

Actually, while this does feel like a dream right now, he knows better. This is barely the first part of a dream come true. This season has been a great learning experience for McWolf. He had it rough for the first couple of games, but he ended up as one of the most solid shutdown defenseman in the league, if not the best one. But it's now time to take his game up to the next level. Next season, he'll join the VHL following the Entry Draft, where he'll face tough adversity day in day out. A whole step above what he played against in the VHLM. He doesn't know yet what colours he'll wear, but he has an idea already.

Anything is possible, but if we are realistic, there are only two possible destinations for McWolf. There is no way he gets called on the stage first on draft day. That honour will no doubt belong to his linemate with the Lynx, Ryan Kastelic. He is about as good defensively as McWolf and miles ahead of him offensively. He has the skillset to be the best defenseman on the whole Riga squad right now and they would be crazy to pass on him. That brings us to the second pick:

:hel:Helsinki Titans. McWolf spoke with the new Titans' GM a few times and he feels like they built a nice rapport together. He doesn't know if he intends to draft him with the 2nd overall pick, as he might prefer Julian Borwinn to him, but there's a good possibility Quik selects him with that pick. However, if he doesn't, then there's no doubt McWolf gets selected with the very next pick:

:nya:New York Americans. Again, McWolf had good talks with the Americans' GM and he feels he'd be delighted to have him on his team. He might be wrong, but deep down, he has a feeling this is as far as he goes. Ball in his Helsinki's court. They're basically the ones to decide the English defenseman's fate at that point.

But hey, this can all wait a few days. Get this nonsense out of your head, Joseph. You can't control it anyway. Now go and get drunk with your buddies.
