jRuutu 2,467
What would VHL playoffs be without drama? Not playoffs that is for sure, I think that I speak for everyone here when I say, thank god there was some drama again! Calgary and Quebec are in the finals and focusing on the upcoming game four. Everything seems to be normal, but the last seven or so days were anything but normal. Calgary player Cayden Saint was not allowed to play in the first two games. He got called up from the juniors just for the finals, but when it was time to play, he was denied access to the bench. Apparently, the paperwork was not correct, Kayden Saint was his name on the roster sheet and you know how anal the officials are about correct information, so Saint was not seen in the Wranglers jersey in games one and two. After the two games, series was tied at 1-1. Many were questioning why the paperwork was not corrected after game one, so Saint could play? That is a good question, turns out that the paperwork was fixed after game one, but the information did not get from Calgary to the league office and back to Calgary in time, Saint had to sit out game two as well. When both teams learned about what has been going on, both parties demanded - almost begged league officials to find a way to make this right. After brief meeting, it was agreed that both games will be played again, this time with Saint in the Calgary´s roster! A shocking decision in the world of hockey, not often you see two games technically canceled and played again when one player missed the action. After the two games were played again, Calgary was leading 2-0. Comments from Quebec camp were not exactly positive, being 1-1 in the finals changed to being down 2-0? Tough. Rauno Palo had sympathy though: If I ever miss game or two and my team lost even one of them, I would want to play them again, first because I personally missed the games, but also the possibility of winning both instead of one would be quite nice. What makes the whole case even tougher is the fact that now both teams have played I believe five games of hockey in six days. Not a surprise that the level of intensity is not as high as it could be, mistakes happen at a higher rate and in general, the games have been a battle to survive, the players are tired as hell. A good example of that is Mats Johnsson´s game misconduct in the second period on game three, he looked like he can´t even stand up anymore, let alone skate and play two full periods of hockey, so he got himself thrown out of the game by a clear hit to the head of Sergei Komarov. Going to be interesting to see what happens in the game four that is in the schedule tomorrow, players are exhausted. Quebec managed to win game three, so series is 2-1 for Calgary.
