Trade Deadline

Hello VHL,

 

This announcement has quite a bit of information, so we’ll get the easiest part out of the way first. The S63 Trade Deadline will be Monday November 19th, 2018 @ 11:59PM EST. All trades or Free Agent signings must be submitted to the portal prior to that deadline. This also means that Monday is the date for re-creates/new members who will be joining the S65 Draft!

 

With that out of the way, let’s get to the other matters at hand.

 

First, as a way to prevent delays, and potential errors during the playoffs, VHLM players will no longer be allowed to be recalled after the VHL Trade Deadline. VHLM teams will still have the ability to add players until the start of the playoffs, but VHL teams can no longer recall a prospect once the deadline has passed.

 

The other bit of business is to clear up a bit of confusion that occurred this past off-season, when DollarAndADream stepped down from his post as GM of the Toronto Legion. In the past, there has been some confusion as to how the league should best handle GM transitions, with some transitions going smoother than others. Effective immediately, all GM changes will be handled as follows, where it pertains to GM Players:

 

Internal Hire: 3 Options

1. Existing Player of the new GM becomes the GM Player
   • Thus allowing the previous GM Player to become a regular Player, who is free to finish their career, staying on the team, or leaving through trade/Free Agency, however they wish.
   • The new GM may create a 2nd player that is a regular player, and who would go through the draft (as long as they follow the 3-season rule).
2. The new GM may create a GM Player of their own, keeping their original player as well. The previous GM Player is sent to FA as soon as the new GM Player’s draft year arises (i.e. If the new GM Player is a S67 Draftee, the previous GM Player would become a Free Agent following the S66 Season).
   • Previous GM Player may not return to original team (or any team they are traded to during that season) via FA, or contract extension, within 2 seasons but can be traded for.
   • For Example: If @Quik steps down and the new GM of Helsinki wishes to create a S67 Draftee, Kronos Bailey would automatically become a Free Agent following the S66 Season. Should Helsinki trade Bailey to another team, he would be ineligible to sign with either Helsinki or the 2nd team, until after the S68 Season.
     • If for some reason the 2nd team also trades Bailey, he would be ineligible from signing with the 3rd team as well.
3. New GM does not create a 2nd Player, and previous GM Player continues as the team's GM Player, following all rules applied to GM Players.

 

 External Hire: 3 Options

1. The new GM may trade for their existing player, who would then become the GM Player

How this affects Sebastian Ironside remains to be seen; a formal announcement on that decision will be announced prior to the start of Free Agency in the S63 Off-Season.
