Learn from it

A big part of improving as a player and as a human being is learning from various kinds of experiences. Sometimes the opportunity to learn comes right in front of you when you least expect, that is what happened to me during last weekend when I randomly bumped into the general manager of Quebec at night in the downtown of Quebec.

 

I was walking around just by myself when a car stopped next to me, I heard a voice say: Hey kid, you want to go for a ride?  I looked over - it was Beaviss! I stepped into his 79 Monte Carlo and asked where we are going - to the office? Beaviss replied: Naah, you are in the office baby.

 

 

Did not take too long for the situation to get bit awkward, Beaviss offered a cigarette pipe to me and was really adamant that I smoke that shit, I really did not want to at first, because I thought he is testing me you know, if I right away say yes and smoke it - he is going to use that against me later, so I tried to refuse the best I could, but those who have spent any time with Beaviss know that he can be really persuasive, so I smoked it. Turns out that it was not a cigarette, but something else.

 

From there on I don´t remember much, five or so hours later I woke up from the garage of Beaviss, I slept in his car and I can tell you right now, my body was sore as hell, but I climbed off the car and walked into the house. Beaviss was in his meundies cooking breakfast, I confronted him and asked what the hell happened, how did I pass out of nowhere, he replied by saying that it was kinda late at night, so maybe that was the reason? I was not pleased with that answer, but I had to accept it since seeing Beaviss in his meundies was too much at that moment.

I said bye and left his house. Luckily we don´t live too far away from each other, around a 1-hour walk, so I decided to clear my head and get some fresh air by walking home. While I was walking I thought about last night and what happened, the conclusion of it all was that it´s not a good idea to smoke something that is offered you, no matter who offers it and also walking outside during the night time is not a smart idea either, that is when the weird people come out and play, so in many ways the night could have been even worse, but that is what it´s all about, can´t experience as much if you just stay inside every day, need to go out and be open to new ideas, while of course making sure that you are safe and stay smart.

 

Have not spoken to Beaviss about the night after it, but I did see him in a team meeting day or two later and everything seemed to be ok, I was not really angry or anything like that either at point anymore, so all is well.
