These articles will be about the young guns of every team in the league - players in their first or second season. Today we're covering the Riga Reign.

Left Winger: Ryuu Crimson
Ryuu Crimson has reached twenty goals for the second consecutive season, scoring 22 times while recording 40 points during his second campaign so far. Ryuu has contributed to the Reign offensively, however his defensive play is mediocre. Crimson has a great shot, and if he learned to shoot more I bet he would be great. You can tell that Riga's general manager believes in the youngster and his abilities after signing him for the entirety of his career.

Right Winger: Rylan Peace
Rylan Peace - like Ryuu - has had a rough start to the season, but after being moved to the second line his offensive game seemed to pick up. So far Peace has scored 18 goals and contributed 17 assists. Peace has shown he has some smooth hands, being able to pass the puck better than Crimson. Although previously on Riga's top offensive unit, he was demoted to the second line and has shown signs of just how electric he can be. The right winger has a bright future, and he has been great for the Reign.

Center: Anthony Dabarno

Unfortunately there isn't much to say for Dabarno other than 'he's struggling'. Dabarno certainly didn't start his VHL career the way he wanted.

Defenseman: Ryan Kastelic

Ryan Kastelic has been nothing short of stellar for the Riga Reign. He is a solid two way defender who's amazing defensively and better offensively. Kastelic has 14 goals, 47 assists and 61 points for the Reign this season and has proven to be a significant asset to the club. Ryan would be a top contender for the top rookie award, but he is playing in his second season in the VHL and can't win it.

Defenseman: Shawn Glade

Glade has been a strong defensemen for Riga. The shoot first defender has 10 goals, 28 assists and 38 points. Although he hasn't recorded as many points as Ryan Kastelic, Shawn has displayed his defensive prowess on the back end for Riga to make up for it. He is +15, good for 5th on his team among a deeply talented Riga defense. Glade has a bright future and has shown that he can accelerate as a two way defender as well.

Defenseman: Dylan Nguyen

Nguyen and Crimson share a healthy friendship with one another, and with Ryuu's support the struggling Nguyen has stabilised somewhat for his second VHL season. Nguyen has potted 6 goals, recorded 24 assists for 30 points. Although not an offensive powerhouse like Ryan Kastelic, or a defensive stalwart like Shawn Glade, Nguyen has respectable stats. He supports a good +/- and is behind only Glade in shots blocked. Overall, Nguyen is a solid two-way defender for the Reign.

Goaltender: Kallis Kriketers

Kallis Kriketers... for a goalie officially recognised last season as the worst netminder to win a championship, he is having a season to prove the nay-saying haters wrong. Kallis has been great for Riga, earning a 39-10-3 record for himself that supports his 9 shutouts. Oh, that also happens to be a league leading stat. Kallis has backstopped Riga to the top of the league, and although he's had lapses, Riga remains the favourite to repeat as Continental Cup Champions once again with him between the pipes.
