Marvin Harding announced today that, after spending the first half of his VHL eligibility as a winger, he will be moving to defense for the newly minted Vancouver Wolves. He has been training for the switch all offseason and will make it official with the conclusion of the World Cup.

"With the team losing multiple defensemen this offseason, they needed someone to step into that role," Harding said. "I've always been a more balanced forward anyways, so I figured it could be a good fit. Not to mention the team needs some more scoring on the back end. I'm hoping I can help provide that as well. I'm excited to pair up with my draft-mate Sam Gates on the team's first pairing."

Harding has developed into a strong power forward, finishing third in the VHL in hits this past season, but hasn't had the same level of offensive production as fellow Season 61 draftees Matt Thompson and Podrick Cast. Combine that with the fact that Quebec is extremely deep in their forward core, but lacking VHL-ready defensemen, and the move makes a lot of sense.
