Peace 1,562
DAVOS, SWITZERLAND -- In the highly anticipated season opener - for both teams - Glade and Peace registered three points, Dragomir nets two, as their HC Davos Dynamo defeated the new Nighthawk expansion team 4-2; Dynamo registered forty shots on net, while the Nighthawk's were surprisingly competitive in their two goal effort while tossing thirty four of their own on net. The Dynamo skated off with their first victory, while the Nighthawk's would go on to win their second game against Moscow 5-0, displaying just how competitive they'll be out of the gate. Dragomir scored the first goal of the contest on the power play just 4:07 into the first frame, with Shawn Glade acquiring his first point with the team he manages, and Peace rounding up the play with the secondary assist. "It's special," Peace admitted. "I got to be a part of history. Two players wearing the Dynamo jersey for the first time got their first points, to be a part of that play will be something I'll remember for a while." Ryuu Crimson would extend the Dynamo's lead to 2-0 midway through the second frame, but no less than five minutes later the Nighthawk's had scored their first franchise goal to cut the lead to 2-1. Materazo will go down in history as the first Nighthawk to score a goal, and Peace noted that he used to be a Wild prospect and it's great seeing former Wild members making a name for themselves in the league now. Peace would then score back to back goals in the third - one on and one off the power play - during the early minutes of the first period. Both were assisted by Glade, while Dragomir notched his second point of the evening. Lynch would score his first VHL goal mid-way through the third period, and the game would finish 4-2. "It was a great effort," Peace said. "I'm extremely happy with the performance, Dragomir and I seemed to play well together and the addition of an offensive oriented defender helped push us over the lip here in our first game. The Nighthawk's were surprisingly resilient, and I think they'll be quite competitive for their first season, perhaps a testament to the skill of their GM or the luck of the draw with the latest expansion draft. Either way, I'm glad to be playing hockey again." Peace did play in the brand tournament, but dismissed the effort as he felt it was more for fun than anything else. xsjack and DMaximus 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/62259-peace-shines-with-dragomir-and-glade/ Share on other sites
