Name: Dalton Wilcox
Hometown: Hong Kong
Age: 17
Position: RW
Height: 6'3”
Weight: 210 Lbs

Overview:
Born in Hong Kong to a cowboy father who was part of a travelling rodeo and to a stay at home mother, Dalton grew up to love hockey after watching the 2010 Olympics and American hero Ryan Miller stonewall every other country.  He played in the USHL for the Sioux Fall Stampede (very fitting) for two seasons Dalton signed his first professional contract with the San Diego Marlins. Dalton is very eager to prove to himself and to the world, that a life on the range can translate to hockey success.

Strengths:
Shooting: Growing up on a ranch, Dalton learned to use the lasso at a very early age.  This led him to developing his shooting muscles very early, allowing him to shoot with great force.  His release is quik, just like the bullwhip he uses on the farm.  Practicing bullwhipping cans on the fence allowed Dalton to develop his accuracy.  Dalton’s shot is now lethal; wrist shot, slap shot and snap shots are all weapons in his arsenal.

Skating:  Like the horses he rides on the ranch, Dalton is very fleet of foot.  He developed his speed by running after get away animals who managed to run away from his family farm. This translates to his on ice play, where Dalton is able to get away from defenders for multiple breakaways per game.

Discipline:  Dalton learned great discipline from his father.  Working on a farm requires sticking to a tight schedule and getting things done on time.  This instilled in Dalton a great work ethic and strong morals.  Sh*t happens on a farm as it does on the ice, and Dalton doesn’t let things like dirty play affect his game.

Weaknesses:
Defense:  Dalton loves scoring.  So much so, that he often forgets there is a defensive component to the game.  Dalton can often be found cherry picking at center ice, waiting for his teammates to get him the puck so they can feed him for a breakaway.

Passing: Dalton’s game is the definition of a gunslinger like the cowboy he is, he shoots at almost every opportunity he gets.  This leaves much to be desired in terms of his playmaking ability.  He can learn to use his teammates much more often.

Puck Handling:  Being fast and having a strong accurate shot has allowed Dalton to succeed at lower levels of hockey, so he hasn’t developed much stick handling skills.  He needs work controlling the puck in traffic, keeping it away from defenders so he can get himself and his teammates into better scoring opportunities.

Final Thoughts:
As it stands, Dalton Wilcox’s game is currently very one-dimensional: offense first.  To succeed in both VHLM and VHL, Dalton will need to develop his skills on both sides of the puck.  He needs to rely on his teammates more and needs to realize he is not a one man show like his junior days.  Dalton hopes to learn from his teammates and coaches on the San Diego Marlins to help him fully realize his potential and to become the player that he knows he can be.

Is this kid on the all-state hair team? He should be, look at that.

That's not how I remember the Olympics ending that year.

Speaking of which, why'd he decide to become a winger instead of a goalie?

Solid, I like the final thoughts, great job here.
