Rookie Profile: Emir Hawley [1/2]

Recommended Posts

Name: Emir Hawley

Age: 17

Height: 6'1''

Weight: 187 lb.

Hometown: Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Nationality: Bosnian/Canadian

Pros:

Passing: Emir has always been a pass first player, but with a really good offensive instinct. He can find the open guys from places you'd think it's impossible from. His passing is so unpredictable, because he can get the puck to the open guys many ways. There's not really even a chance, that you're going to get the puck off from his pass. Go try, because it will definitely not happen... Yeah, for sure won't.

Skating: Emir is a really fast skater just like his brother. He can make plays in high speed, he can get to open ice really fast and it's hard for the opponent to be in front of him as he is so fast with his feet. He was one of the fastest skaters in his league with Xander. And his speed is totally not going to be wasted. His speed is so dangerous, because of his 2-way instincts, playmaking and how easily he can get open. This is definitely something, that is good for him in the VHL. (Being a fast skater)

Defensive Zone Play: Emir is dangerous at both ends of the ice. He can make plays in the defensive zone, but most importantly, he can get the puck off people very fast with his defensive instincts. It's hard for you to get the puck off him in the defensive zone. He can even move the puck really fast away from the defensive zone, if he has to, and if it's necessary. He is for sure a good penalty killer aswell, or just as a third defenseman.

Cons:

Scoring: While Emir is good in the offensive zone, making plays, shooting, even playing it physical for his team sometimes, he isn't too good at scoring. He needs to utilize his shot more, while also making it more accurate. He has a heavy release, but not an accurate one. And while he can definitely still score, he is the type of guy, that fails alot from good chances.

Discipline: Emir isn't the type of guy, that gets angry easily. He really doesn't get angry at all. But sometimes he does have problems with controlling poke checks, playing cleanly and just overall, he takes too many penalties. This is something, that really needs to change in him, and fast. He needs to get better at this...

Strength: Emir is a good skater, yeah, but something he needs more, is strength. He can also be really physical at times, but he still needs to get more strength. He really does. That is definitely something he needs in the VHL, and right now he doesn't have much of it, so if he really wants to play in the VHL, he really needs to get better strength.

So overall I think Emir will have a good chance at the VHL with his amazing passing, skating and defensive zone playing abilities, while he still has yo get better at scoring and learn how not to take penalties and he also needs to get more strength.. Emir is for sure going to be a good player in the VHL, if he ever gets there. This was it, bye! :D

Review:

Good formatting, maybe throw a picture in there to flesh out your player a bit more.

Maybe add a summary at the top of the list as well.

Is it just me or am I seeing a lot of Bosnian/Canadian rookies? (Edit: they're apparently brothers)

Grammar here could use some work. Maybe say, "difficult to intercept his passes, he can thread the needle", etc, that kind of thing. Use idioms instead of challenging the GM reading this.

Give it a spell-check as well. Lots of little typos throughout.  You've written this like a couple of buddies having a conversation and not a scouting report submitted from a pro scout to a GM, think about that in the writing going forward and focus on your audience.
