Game 75 of S66 of the VHLM featured two of the leagues new expansion teams, the San Diego Marlins hosting the Mississauga Hounds. Fans coming in to the arena were pretty hyped for the match, the Marlins have been playing a lot better as of late, even taking games off two of the leagues top teams in Philly an Saskatoon. But boy, I dont think they ever could have been prepared for the fireworks that went down that night.

The game started off great for the Marlins with them potting 2 goals in the second minute of the game, coming barely 15 seconds a part. The hounds werent too stoked about their start, and things started to get chippy. Looked like we were in for a wild ride already. At 4:05 of the first period, Hounds C Callum MacElroy wins a defensive draw, and proceeds to give Marlins C Alex Pearson a hack to the back of the leg. In retaliation for this, Pearson's teammate Dalton Wilcox comes in and lays MacElroy out, causing a big scrum. While MacElroy was down, Pearson, clearly not too happy about the hack to the leg, drives his stick into the stomach of McElroy, right in clear view of the ref's. Pearson was immediately ejected from the game, given a 5 min major and a game misconduct.

When asked about the Spear after the game, Pearson replied with, "Well you know the guy beats me on the draw, so I already wasnt too happy about that. And then, as hes skating by, buddy gives me a pretty good hack to the calf, which just kinda set me off. Willy came in right after and gave him a pretty good hit, but I didn't feel like he had enough, so I gave him a bit of a stick for good measure. Hopefully that shows him not to do that again. Prick." Pretty big statement there from Pearson, we'll have to see if any extra discipline gets handed down from the league.
