Evgeni Komarov started to shift his game mid way through last year, something that has not really changed early in this season. He is still a big hitter, still a guy who plays defense well. However, he decided it was in his and the teams best interest to lower his PIMs, and start to produce more offense. The offense has started to come, and a game he will never really fully develop. The big thing that even leaves him shocked is the amount of times he's had to fight this year, leading the league in fights and wins he's been much more active. Teams are trying to take advantage of his teammates, and he is not allowing it.

At his current pace he could surpass 10+fights which i believe is unheard of in VHL history.  He is also on pace to wreck the PIM record in a season. What's weird for him, is its not charging or cross checking getting him in trouble. Its been his stick, something he has vowed to work on as he tries to bring the penalties down. Perhaps this is a case of a young kid just trying to do too much. He needs to simplify his game, or just his offense is so raw this will take some adjustments.
