At practice today, Micheal Rassmussen played after not having skated for a long time. After a long break, Rassmussen hit the ice and immediately got into a rivalry with team captain, Blake Gaudette.  Rassmussen had the puck early in the scrimmage, when Gaudette suddenly sent him flying into the boards. Rasmussen's head was hurting and it took him 3 tries to get up. He left the game early in the first period to get assessed by the team doctor, but he was back on the ice at the beginning of the second period, feeling way better. He stepped out onto the ice and gave a light hit on Gaudette, before stealing the puck, going to the net, and roofing it top shelf, but following the goal, Rassmussen lost control and went crashing into the boards shoulder first. Once again, he had a hard time getting up and the trainers had to come lift him off on a stretcher, back to the dressing room. When practice was done, Micheal had to go back to the team doctor's office to get assessed. The doctor said he would have to take an X-ray of the collarbone, but told Micheal to take it easy next game, because it could be a broken collarbone or torn muscle.  Micheal told Aran Thranduil, the Halifax GM, about his injury and the fact that it was in the same place as his previous collarbone injury from when he played midget hockey, but the fact that they didn't know whether it was a problem with the bone or the muscle. He said that when he hit the boards, he heard a load bang and it echoed across the entire arena. He had screamed out in pain on impact, causing the trainers to rush onto the ice. He told Thranduil how he was feeling better now, and even if he had an injury and had been told to sit out for a few weeks, he would still be willing to play, because he didn't want to let his teammates down.Thranduil admired the team play by Rassussen, but still thought he should sit for a few games. Micheal was sad that he got injured in his first practice back, but he was still excited to be back in the game of hockey and on the Halifax 21st.
