TheLastOlympian07 2,388
GM: Jason Glasser (144/57/79/8/122) Former GM(s): Jardy Bunclewirth (504/172/307/25/369) Record (after S20): 648 GP | 229 W | 386 L | 33 OTL | 491 P | 1,823 GF | 2,695 GA Playoff Record (after S20): 26 GP | 14 W | 10 L | 2 OTL | 1-1 vs TOR, 1-0 vs HEL, 0-1 SEA Season 28 VHL Entry Draft Round 1, Pick 1: Volodymyr Rybak Round 1, Pick 3 (From Davos, via Vasteras): Ryan Sullivan Round 1, Pick 8(From Helsinki): Jim Gow Round 3, Pick 18: Dave Mustaine Season 28 Regular Season - 72 GP | 46 W | 23 L | 3 OTL | 95 P | 239 GF | 182 GA The 2nd year under Jason Glasser went a lot better than the first. As the draft picks acquired the previous season were put to good use plus a little draft lottery luck. With the 1st overall pick, the Wranglers drafted Rybak to lead the team into the future. Two other first round picks, Ryan Sullivan and Jim Gow ended up being pretty good as well. The team was able to have a winning record for what seemed like forever. The Wranglers went 46-23-3 which was good enough for 95 points but this was just outside the playoffs. It still was considered as success. Alexander Chershenko brokeout in a big way topping the 100 point mark for the first time in his career. Genghis Khan was a shrewd pick up playing in 62 games with the Wranglers and putting up 84 points for 92 points total between Helsinki and Calgary. 1st Overall pick Rybak was able to score 44 goals and assist on 43 goals for 87 points. The season is a success to say the least after years of futility after a quarter century of dominance. Season 28 Playoffs - 3 W | 3 L | 1 OTL vs SEA The Calgary Wranglers qualified for the playoffs in Season 28 for the first time in 4 seasons. The team went up against the top ranked Seattle Bears who finished 1st in the NA Conference. Game 1 and 2 were split in Seattle with both games ending 3-2. Game 3 was a pivotal game which went to OT. Whoever won the game would take a 2-1 series lead. The Bears wound up winning 4-3 on the PP after Vladimir Boomchenko was called for tripping. However, the next two games wound up going to Calgary as they won the two games by a combined 8-3. The Wranglers were on the verge of upsetting the top ranked Seattle Bears. A game 6 loss though by a score of 6-2 meaning we were going to a Game 7. The Seattle Bears opened the 1st period with 2 goals and that was all that was needed since the Wranglers just scored 1 goal in the 2nd. The Bears moved on to the finals while the Wranglers were sent home. Alex Chershenko, Rybak and Khan were the players who showed up with 12, 10 and 10 points respectively. Everyone else on the team averaged less than a point per game. Claudio Martucchi had himself a nice series with a 0.929 save percentage and a 2.76 G.A.A with 1 shutout. Other than these 4 players, the rest of the team under performed and that was the main reason the team didn't advance further than the 1st round. Trades: Not available until Season 35 Awards: David Knight Trophy (Top GM) - Jason Glasser Overall: The Rebuild take 2 has gotten off to a great start as 1st Overall pick, Rybak put up 87 points in his 1st season. Chershenko blossomed into a star in just his 2nd season scoring over 100 points which brings him to 185 in his Wrangler career which places him 8th all time already. Rybak jumps to 14th in his wrangler career as well as both prove to be huge building blocks. Boomchenko and Khan prove to be a great duo on the back end with 87 and 84 points respectively. Marius Henchosz looks to be the goalie of the future with a 39-19-2 record plus a 0.908 save percentage and a 2.56 G.A.A. His 39 wins vault him to 2nd all time in Wrangler wins (since S20) in just his first season. The future is looking bright in Calgary to say the least.
