~quik Summary~

Willie Dredge, was born in the small town of Spencer, MA. After a very high scoring high school career, Boston College was Dredge's next destination. Although his scoring was in abundance, he suffered defensively in his short college journey, ultimately affecting his teams chances of moving forward in the playoffs. This is when he quickly decided to move on to the VHLM, hoping to leave his displeasing defensive performance behind him. Analytics say few VHLM teams had offers undeterred by the horrible defensive performance he showed late in his freshman year. Reports say he has been in the practice facility working hard given the new opportunity.

~Strengths~

  • Speed/Mobility. Dredge boasts tremendous foot speed and acceleration, giving him the ultimate edge against his opponents with his lightning quik first step. He's able to incorporate his speed with his other offensive abilities, giving opponents a hard choice of whether to play a shot or a speedy cut to the net.
  • Offensive Awareness. Dredge has a knack for the offensive ice. He knows where to be, and can get there using his foot speed. His offensive production is mostly part to his ability to read the ice and adapt to the play, which creates offense for himself as well as his teammates. He is not afraid to get creative, which often opens up chances for his teammates.
  • Passion. Following his worst defensive outing in his career, he was called upon by the media to answer. He was very calm, and professional when speaking to the media. Following reports say Dredge has spent twice the time on the rink and stays late to polish his game. Is very passionate and takes his environment to heart. Cares about the fans opinion, possibly enough to affect his play.

~Weaknesses~

  • Defense. Dredge has shown obvious struggles with keeping the puck out of his own net. Despite his offensive performance, his +/- has been noted to take spikes down, meaning his consistency on team defense isn't quite up to VHL standards, or even VHLM in certain circumstances. Though he has shown progress, A lot more must be shown in order to break out as a more balanced "safe" forward.
  • Lineup/Team Chemistry. One thing noted on Dredge which has recently raised a few brows, is that Dredge is a tough fit for teams. He doesn't lack any sociable skills, but having been known for poor defense puts Dredge in a tough spot for GM's and coaches to build from. I'm sure if Dredge finds that fit, he will break out, but finding him a line that can make up for his play on the back end while keeping up with him on the offensive ice, may be hard for some teams with a standing core.
  • Checking. Dredge plays a finesse game. quik stick and head on a swivel. He does not play the body often besides the common rubout. Dredge finds himself in gritty situations ONLY when he knows he can create an opportunity, so if he's not scoring goals or racking up assists, he's likely not helping you in the hits and gritty situations either.

~Conclusion~

Scouts recommended highlights and final opinion on prospect:

"I can see Dredges easily filling the top 6 forward for any team, but I can also see him being a bust due to his weak defensive game. I believe Dredges will be tested in the coming months. He has to show the league he is willing to adapt his game by either out performing offensively on a consistent basis, or picking up his late defensive game and fill out that role player position. One thing to look forward to is the development of Dredges, is if he gets the time needed to develop his game and truly live out to his potential as a offensive superstar.

Review: Well done rookie report. Found 2 typos when you wrote quik, should be quik. You want to have proper spelling in rookie reports to make it look more official. Other then that great information with a summary and conclusion. Well done!
