Season 29 Regular Season - 72 GP | 36 W | 30 L | 6 OTL | 78 P | 184 GF | 172 GA

The Calgary Wranglers regressed in Season 29. Plain and simple. After making the playoffs for the first time in since Season 24, the Wranglers looked on the upswing after Season 28. However, despite a winning record of 36-30-6 and 78 points, the Wranglers missed the playoffs. This was due in part as the North American Conference being so tough as all the teams had more than 78 points.

Alexander Chershenko continued his dominance with another 100 point season as he finished with 106 points. Vladimir Boomchenko broke out in a big way with 103 points of his own. Rookie defenseman Ryan Sullivan also had 74 points. These three players were the only 3 to average more than 1 point per game. Rybak struggled in his 2nd season with just 48 points. The rest of the team barely chipped in as well. However, defensively they were pretty good allowing just 172 goals. Marius Henchoz had a nice season with 34 wins, 0.914 save percentage, 2.14 G.A.A and 7 shutouts. It was a small step back considering pushing the eventual champions to 7 games the year before. At least it wasn't as bad as when the team was blatantly tanking from S24-S27.

Trades:

Not available until Season 35

Awards:

Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy (Top Rookie) - Ryan Sullivan

Dustin Funk Trophy (Most Improved) - Vladimir Boomchenko

Kevin Brooks Trophy (Most Goals) - Alexander Chershenko

Alexander Beketov Trophy (Most Assists) - Vladimir Boomchenko

Ryan Sullivan won the Stolzy trophy as top rookie with his wonderful season. Not often do rookie defenseman come in and have the impact he did. Boomchenko came and claimed 2 awards, the most improved and the Beke for most assists. It was a great 2nd season in Calgary for him. Chershenko claimed the Brooks Trophy for leading the league in goals with 49.

Overall:

It was a season to just move on from as the Wranglers were good but not great. They weren't the worst like in S25-S27 but they weren't good enough. Chershenko had another great year as he moves to 5th all time in Wrangler scoring, next season if he stays with the team, he will become just the 5th player to break 300 points with the team. Boomchenko made some waves as well moving all the way up to 9th in team scoring. He looks to become just the 7th Wrangler to break 200 points. Rybak disappointed but he broke the 100 point barrier and sits at 135 while Klaus Muller also is the most recent to break 100 with his 104 career points as a Wrangler. Chershenko is also tied for 3rd in game winning goals with 23, him and Wrangler legend Jardy Bunclewirth are tied and he remains 5 back of the leader (Mathias Chouinard). Marius Henchoz is the 2nd best goalie since S20 in Wrangler history with his 73-44-6 record. He also has a 0.911 save percentage and a 2.35 G.A.A which is 2nd behind all goalies who have played at least 1 season (64 games) in Calgary.
