Season 30 Regular Season - 72 GP | 45 W | 21 L | 6 OTL | 96 P | 211 GF | 164 GA

The Calgary Wranglers bounced back after a disappointing season. The team went 45-21-6 for 96 points. This was just 1 point behind the New York Americans who had 97 points. However, thanks to the cross over rule, the Wranglers were able to cross over to the European Conference and take the place of the Vasteras Iron Eagles who finished in 2nd place and held that 'playoff' spot in the standings with their lowly 48 points. This rule was put into place to help stuff like this from happening, instead of the Wranglers missing the playoffs despite being the 4th best team, they were now able to make it.

Rybak bounced back in a big way to lead the Wranglers in scoring with 44 goals and 44 assists for 88 points. Chershenko had a somewhat subpar season with 'just' 87 points. Newly traded for Leeroy Jenkins helped out in a major way with 40 points in 40 games. Overall, the scoring was fairly well spread out between the lineup as the team had no weaknesses. All 10 players had over 20 points, 9 over 30 points, 8 over 40 points, 7 over 60 points, 2 over 70 points and the aforementioned 2 over 80 points. Marius Henchoz had himself a nice season with 40 wins, a 0.921 save percentage and a 1.93 G.A.A.

Season 30 Playoffs - 11 GP | 8 W | 2 L | 1 OTL

In the first round, the Wranglers would play the 1st place team in the Euro Conference which was the HC Davos Dynamo. This would be the first time the two teams met in the playoffs after Season 20. The two, I think met in Season 18 and/or Season 19 when the Wranglers won back to back championships. So this as 10 years in the making. However, the Dynamo were the favorites because they finished with 10 more points than the Wranglers. The Wranglers would surprise everyone though by going up 2-0 in Davos. They outscored the team 10-5 in the two games. Game 3 was a important one that went to overtime and in OT, it was Rybak, who ended the game just 2 minutes into OT. It was a commanding 3-0 series lead which the Wranglers would not blow as they won Game 4 by a score of 2-1.

In the finals, the Wranglers would play the Seattle Bears. In the past, the Bears beat the Wranglers in Season 28 which was a tightly contest series where the Wranglers lost in 7 with one game going to OT. This series, started much like the last one with the Wranglers winning game 1 by a 4-2 score then the Bears tying the series with a 6-2 game 2 win. Game 3 and 4 were pretty close as the Wranglers would win both by a combined score of 6-3. The Wranglers held a 3-1 series lead against the Bears. Game 5 was back in Seattle and it went to TRIPLE OT. In the first OT period, the Wranglers only got off 1 shot compared to the Bears 10. It would even out over the course of that before Mitch Higgins ended it halfway through the 3rd OT. It was now 3-2 Calgary going back to Calgary. This is where we thought it would end, however, CAL G had other plans as he shut out the Wranglers and a Felix Peters 2nd period goal was all that was needed to force Game 7. In Game 7, Alex Chershenko scored 6:18 into the game to give the Wranglers the lead. In the 2nd period, trade acquisition Leeroy Jenkins doubled the lead and Marius Henchoz shut the door with 30 saves to secure the victory.

Alexander Chershenko and Volodymyr Rybak led the team in scoring with 17 points a piece while Leeroy Jenkin and Vladimir Boomchenko both had 12, giving these 4 players over a point per game. Ryan Sullivan was the closest with 9 points as well. Marius Henchoz had a great playoff run with 8 wins, 0.929 save percentage and a 2.19 G.A.A with 1 shutout.

Overall:

The Wranglers reached the top of the mountain once again in Season 30, winning their 7th Championship. They are the only VHL Franchise to win in every 'decade'. The Wranglers have won from S1-9, S10-19, S20-29 and now in Season 30 to Season 39. The model franchise just keeps getting better and better. Alexander Chershenko is on a mission to become the best Wrangler of all time as he is now tied for 5th on the all time scoring list after S20 with 378 points which ties him with Roman Andreev who played in more games than him. Boomchenko is also making a name for himself with his 250 points which makes him the 2nd highest scoring defender behind Lars Intranquilo. Rybak is just the 9th player in franchise history to crack 200 career points as he now has 223 and sits 8th all time. Klaus Muller, Ryan Sullivan and Clark Marcellin all break 100 point barriers. Marius Henchoz becomes the all time wins leader with 113 but still trails Joey Clarence in save percentage and G.A.A. He is tied with the most shuotouts and just behind Redacted with 11 assists.
