It’s been quite an off-season for the young Ricky Johnson. After a successful and yet slightly disappointing Philadelphia season, Johnson would see himself be drafted into the VHL by the newly formed D.C Dragons in the second round as the 18th pick. Sources say Johnson has planned to stay in the minors for an additional year and will continue to play for the Philadelphia Reapers. Having experienced such an eventful break from the regular season, the media caught up with Johnson to share his thoughts of the past events. He said:

A lot has happened. It’s weird how time flies. I’m still trying to get over our second round exit in the VHLM playoffs and the new season is already set to start. I mean wow. On top of that, I’ve been drafted to D.C.. Life sure comes at you fast. It’s crazy to think that one day you’re stepping onto the ice for the first time to being drafted into the VHL. It’s always been a dream of mine and I can’t wait to start playing for the Dragons next season...”

He continued in explaining his goals for the current season with the Reapers:

”...I’m excited to enter my 2nd and final year with the Reapers. We were a team to beat last year and i’m hoping we can continue to be so this upcoming season. Winning the cup is always #1 priority. I also want to be noticed as one of the best defensemen on the ice. That’s always been a goal of mine as well and i’m still sticking to it. Being at my best helps my team be at it’s best and that’s what will help us win games too.”
