Downey Continues to Chug Along

Vancouver, British Columbia – Vancouver Wolves rookie defenseman Jeff Downey is continuing to chug along and is having a respectable season by most metrics. Drafted fourth overall last offseason by the defending champion Wolves he was thrust into a prominent role on the team’s second pairing as well as quarterbacking their second power play unit.

As it currently stands through 64 regular season games Downey has posted eight goals and 14 assists for a total of 22 points while also being a -8 on the year. While some pundits may have had him performing at a higher level he has been adequate in his role so far and has been showing signs of improvement as the year has gone on.

When asked about his play thus far Downey had the following to say:

‘It has been a good time so far. I mean I am making millions of dollars to play the game I grew up loving. Sure, as a team out season so far hasn’t been all that great and we are definitely not meeting expectations but I feel that with this core we have the potential for greatness in the upcoming seasons.’
