The Music of the VHL
By A. Simon-Cowell-Type

Part 6

Welcome back to another edition of The Music of the VHL! We are returning now to our regularly scheduled content, and this week, we will be taking a look at the number one team from the North American Conference! Of course, I am talking about one of the most iconic music cities in the world, Seattle!

Seattle Bears @Banackock
Machine Gun, Jimi Hendrix

Seattle is certainly going to be under fire this postseason. Despite enjoying a sizable lead at the end of the regular season within their conference, if they want to win the cup they are going to have to beat one European team; and 3 of the 4 playoff teams from Europe finished with a record better than the North American leaders. Regardless, a strong showing from the youthful Seattle core could prove dangerous, and if their lack of experience doesn’t betray them, look to this Seattle team for the city’s first cup since S59.

For this reason, we have gone with one bright young flame whose light was extinguished far too early - Jimi Hendrix died at just 27 years of age. For our song, we could have really picked any of his tunes to represent the youthful Seattle spirit the Bears have captured, but we have decided to go with the song Machine Gun, specifically from the live album, Machine Gun: Live at The Fillmore East 12/31/1969, whose pulsing, searing guitar licks embody Hendrix’s style. Sit back and enjoy the show that Hendrix and the Bears can put on.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned next week for more coverage!
