When it comes to Jacques Lafontaine, it’s an interesting story. In fact, he wasn’t always a goalie. At one point in his life, he was a defensemen but couldn’t really seem to fit in as one. Then, one day, as a ten year old, he had a talk with his coach and became a goaltender. Buying some pads from Value Village before the season, he got ready for his first game. Sadly, he lost his first game 2-1 but he seemed better and more comfortable being a goalie rather than a defensemen. It wasn’t like he was a natural, when it came to technique, he wasn’t the best but you could tell he enjoyed being a goalie and had more fun. He started watching goaltending tutorials and his goaltending coach helped him refine his technique. Then the next season, he did better, not being an absolute superstar but being able to stop the puck effectively. He didn’t win any awards or championships that year. So, he decided to think about what to work on, eventually working on his rebound control, spending hours at a time getting hit by the puck and controlling the rebound. His hard work paid off as rebound control became one of his biggest strengths. Still though, no awards or championships. The next season, he worked on his agility, working hard to become more agile. Then in the season after that, he worked on his Reaction Time, which involved a lot of juggling. And then he worked on his skating ability, which improved but still needs work even today. Still though, no championships. Jacques was lucky enough to join the “Ligue de hockey midget AAA”, one of the top leagues for people his age. He played for the L'Intrépide de Gatineau and had a record of 24-10-3 as well as a Save Percentage of 0.912. To add to that, he also had a fairly good Goals Against Average of 2.13. That season, he was able to backstop his team to a championship, beating the Lions du Lac-Saint-Louis in the finals in 7 games. With his first taste of success, he feels like he’s ready to jump into the Victory Hockey League Minors and help his team. While the question of if he will start still exists, he is still excited to play in the VHLM, backup or not. He has always admired Alexander Pepper, trying to base his play style after him and wants to take the same route as Pepper. He said he will work on his skating more and is excited for the next season. Will he be as good as his hero? Only time will tell.

Review: this might just be me but this seemed like it was kinda like a bio. Though I presume there is nothing wrong with that. Some things didn’t seem grammatically correct, but I could’ve read it incorrectly. It’s pretty informative, and a bit too in-depth for just a junior review (again dating back to the bio type thing). Not too bad haven’t reviewed in a while; so since I just said that ;I will not be giving a grade, solid work however keep it up.

Review: Really awesome method in describing his odd story become a goalie as a defenseman. Lafontaine sounds like an honest dude just trying to be the best that he can be which is very relatable. His understands how green he is and looks up to role model players that he aspires to be as well. Glad to see that he finally got a taste of success in his new position and wish him the best! Well done!
