Jubis 1,351
Prospect Scouting Report RJ Jubis HEIGHT: 6'4" WEIGHT: 222LBS SHOOTS: LEFT POSITION: LW/C GAMES PLAYED: 72 GOALS: 29 ASSISTS: 33 POINTS: 62 RJ Jubis jumped onto scouts radars when he was signed by the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM. He joined the team for the 68th season of the league's conception. The Wild finished in 10th place out of 11 teams. Winning only 21 games out of the 72 game season. OFFENSE: GRADE B+ Jubis could not have started his VHLM rookie season any slower. At 44 games into the season he had scored only 6 goals and was a -13. Jubis was holding a 2nd line spot at the time. He was being heavily outscored by his linemates on the 3rd line. Rumours were that he would be dropped to the 3rd or 4th line. Before any of that could happen Jubis started scoring and scoring some more. He had earned himself a spot on the 1st line and was playing top minutes with time on the powerplay. Jubis scored 23 goals through the final 28 games of the season. Jubis has proved that he can be a threat from anywhere on the ice. Known for his quik release Jubis also has power to his shots. He scored his 21st goal of the season from a center ice slap shot that surprised the goalie. Some analysts project Jubis to finish in the 60 goal 100 points range next season. I feel this is a tad optimistic but it is a possibility. DEFENSE: GRADE B Jubis not originally known for his defensive side of the game. Has established himself as a great two-way forward. The Wild finished the season with a whopping 299 goals against. That was good for 4.15 goals against per game. This is probably the biggest contributor to why Saskatoon was only able to win 21 games. Jubis through his own worst slump had fell to a -26 halfway through the season. He was able to turn his season around finishing the year a +4. The Wild struggled defensively finishing the year with a goal differential of -73. Jubis got praise from his coaches for never giving up on a play. His willingness to back check and play proper positioning away from the puck sets him apart from other comparable prospects. It is unknown in what city RJ Jubis will be lacing up his skates next season. He has stated that he really enjoyed his time in Saskatoon in previous press conferences. Whether returning to northern Canada next season would be an option is still unclear. A revamped Saskatoon roster is beginning to look like a cup contender. Both the VHLM and VHL drafts have yet to take place. Jubis is now projected to go in the 1st round of the VHL draft and top 3 in VHLM draft. Hockey insiders say Jubis will not be ready to make the jump to the VHL next season. He will report to his VHLM team. One more season with solid growth could help him solidify a full time spot in the VHL the following season.
