Greg Eagles will be entering the final year of his contract with the Vancouver Wolves this season. In his first season Eagles played as backup and played fairly well. He finished his first season with a 6-7-3 record, a .902 save % and a 2.85 GAA.

In his second year he was handed the reigns as the starter and once again played well. He finished with a 31-26-9 record, a .902 save % and a 2.84 GAA. He also went 2-2-1 in the playoffs with a .929 save % and 2.56 gaa.

As he enters the final year of his contract with the Wolves, Eagles knows he needs to do better to bring the Wolves back to the cup. Can Eagles play well enough this season to receive an extension? We sit down the the Wolves star to discuss his future.

R: Hey Greg, Thanks for sitting with us once again as we enter the start of another season.

G: Thanks, Glad to be here and glad to do this on a yearly basis every time the season starts

R: Now everyone knows you are entering the final year of your contract with Vancouver, what does the future hold?

G: If it was up to me I would sign a long term deal to stay in Vancouver. I’m really enjoying my time here and the players are great but that is not up to me. That is up to the management to decide.

R: Has there been any talks of an extension?

G: Not yet, the season is just starting. For me I would prefer to have the contract situation handled before or after the season and not during. During the season it can cause huge distractions and I would rather just focus on playing hockey

R: Would you want to finish out your career in Vancouver?

G: Of course! We have so much talent and I believe we can win another cup this season. My goal is to stay in Vancouver for my career but you never know what could happen. Management might have a different plan in mind. I just have to show them with my play on the ice.

R: Now lets talk some Hockey, how do you feel after that heart breaking loss?

G: It sucks, I thought we would finish it out in Game 6. I mean we played so well in Game 4 and 5…I ended up being first star in both those games and then Game 6 was just a close heartbreaker. I am not sure what happened in game 7 but we just imploded. Either way we are stronger now as a team because of that loss.

R: How do you think you will do this season compared to last?

G: Well everyone always says that we always play better in our contract year so I am hoping to have the best season of my career. My goal is always to improve from one season to the next. I have been training hard and hoping that it shows performance wise.

R: Thanks Greg, that is all we have for you today and we are hoping you get that extension!

G: Thanks!
