He was determined to make the jump to the VHL. Through his first 10 VHL games he went pointless. Then came the 11th game of the season. The Calgary Wranglers were facing the New York Americans. Going into the 3rd period the Wranglers were losing 2-1 and were being outshot 28-9. The chances of scrapping a win together were unlikely. A big speech by Brick Wahl between periods is rumoured to have pumped up the team. Roll Fizzlebeef tied the game at 2-2 at 3:52 of the 3rd period. Just a few mins later Jubis sets up Fizzlebeef for a one-timer off the rush and it darts past the Americans goaltender. Jubis registers his first VHL point with the assist on Fizzlebeef's goal. Fizzlebeef collected the puck from the net and handed it to a very excited Jubis. Late goals by New York forced overtime but Calgary was able to hang on and win in a shootout.
