FrostBeard 2,061
Trade Details To: Seattle Guy LeGrande To: New York Kevin Low S70 MOS 3rd --------------------- Analysis With this acquisition is quite clear that Seattle is pushing for playoffs and is trying to acquire a stronger player on the defensive end compared to what they had in Kevin Low. Both players have been almost equal playing for their previous teams and now will be looking to prove which one of them is the better player. For Seattle this trade makes sense as if they are going full speed to compete this season and defend their championship they could use a better built, stronger defensive player in LeGrande. Contract is another matter. LeGrande has been signed to a huge 5 million a season deal starting from S70 so for Seattle to take that much money on their hands with already pretty high paying roster that will be demanding more money is a risky decision and hopefully they will be able to manage. For New York this trade makes sense as LeGrande has been having rough time in the Big Apple and the team with so much talent needed some playoff poise that they are getting in Kevin Low. --------------------- Get-to-Know the Players Guy LeGrande Drafted in S67 with the 14th overall selection, Guy LeGrande seemed to be a core piece for NY Americans rebuild. After a slow start in his first season, he blossomed in his second season and ended up having over 70 points and receiving Dustin Funk award for the most improved player in VHL. It seemed to be not only a great sign for him but also for his team in NY as with their young and eager roster team wanted to compete in playoffs, but the start of S69 and struggles from offence, defence and goal-tending lead to many players being disgruntled as they felt they are in the position to win right now. Question is - will Guy LeGrande be the player to help Seattle win again or will he be a cap burden for seasons to come? Kevin Low After being selected 31st overall in S67, Kevin Low was a true quality player on ice considering that his build was oriented not only on limiting opponent's game, but also on quality offence. Even though he hasn't seen such a rise in production as Guy LeGrande, he has been able to get at least 10 goals in each season and has been a player with positive +/- rating in his career thus far. Surely, not as strong player and not as talented as Guy LeGrande but a player who can hold his own every season.
