To this point, the series between the Seattle Bears and the New York Americans has gone against expectations in many ways. The Seattle Bears are the league's defending champs and one of its best teams, but find themselves down 3-2 to an upstart Americans team that took a while to find their footing this season. Not only that, but a matchup between two of the regular season's best goalies, Ray Funk and A Red Guy, has been dictated much more by offense than expected. Although Funk, last season's Kanou trophy winner, has a stronger postseason resume than the green A Red Guy, it was Guy who had the defining performance of the series at the position.

Game five saw New York going back to Seattle after drawing even 2-2 in the previous game. Keven Foreskin was able to give the Americans a 1-0 lead late in the first with a power play goal, but that was the only support New York would give their second year goalie. Fortunately, A Red Guy came through, pitching a shutout and helping New York take a lead as the series moves back home. Whether or not the team completes the upset, it has been a hell of an effort from the Americans.
