As it has been customary at the start of every new season, we sit down to talk to Greg Eagles about his last season and the upcoming season.

R: Welcome Greg, Great to have you back for the 4th time in what has been a great yearly interview segment
G: No problem, always a pleasure to come in

R: First off, congratulations on the new contract. You have extended your contract to Season 73 with the Wolves. How does that feel?
G: I'm excited. I think everyone knew that I wanted a long term contract to stay in Vancouver. Myself and management worked on the details in the off-season and we were able to get something done. This contract will bring me to my 7th year in the league and once it ends I will have to make a decision whether to retire or to play for one more final season.

R: Have you thought about that yet? Retirement?
G: To be honest I have not. I still have a while to go and I will decide once this contract runs out. There will be a lot of choices at that point...do I resign with the Wolves for a final season if they want me? Do I test Free Agency for the first time in my career? Or do I retire? At this moment I just don't know

R: Can you speak a little about last seasons playoffs and the frustration with losing to Seattle? I even heard something about a destroyed locker room?
G: Well it was very frustrating losing to Seattle again, we really thought we could beat them. Losing 2-1 at the end of the game just made me emotional and I took it out on the visitors locker room. While I do regret doing that, it was just the emotions of a very hard fought game.

R: What are your predictions for the Wolves this season?
G: We are definitely geared up to finish first in the division again and I believe management has addressed most issues that should help us win another cup this season.

R: Has that always been the ultimate goal for you? Winning more cups?
G: Definitely! That is why I play in this league, I took a hometown discount on this contract because I know the Wolves are setup long term to always compete for the cup. I have one cup but as a backup, I want to win one as the starter and that will always be my goal.

R: What are your thoughts on some of the trades and F/A signings for the Wolves?
G: It's sad to see some of the players you played with since I joined the Wolves get traded but all these moves have made our team better. We needed to improve our defense and management have accomplished that with the trade for Tzuyu and the free agent signing of Low.

R: How has your relationship been with the new backup Spyro?
G: I think it has been great, I have been in his shoes as a backup and I never really had a mentor as Kingfisher just kept to himself. For me though, I have reached out to Spyro and have been helping him get settled in and letting him know what to expect. I think it's great that he is here and will provide me with some rest for the playoffs.

R: Long term do you think the Wolves can keep both goalies?
G: That is up to the management to decide, I know Spyro will be a great starting goalie in a season or two and it would be fun to roll out a 1A/1B goalie system but I am not sure if cap wise that will work out.

R: That's all the time we have for today, Thank You Greg

G: Anytime!
