Linea “Lin” Alba was born in Maryland to Dr. John Alba and Dr. Susan Alba on December 30th 1995. Since he was born with oddly pronounced six-pack abs, his parents named him after the fibrous structure separating the left and right sets of abs. Both big hockey fans, his parents introduced him to the game when he was only 2, taking him to see his first of many Washington Capitals games.

While he initially struggled with backward crossovers, Lin eventually learned to play hockey and had a successful youth hockey career through high school playing AAA for Team Maryland. Lin made a name for himself on the mid-Atlantic youth hockey circuit as a talented wing with a deadly wrist shot. He also excelled at setting up teammates with needle-threading passes, developing a reputation as a selfless player who was as willing to pass as to shoot. Scouts noted that while he wasn’t the largest, or physically toughest, his speed and stellar sense of positioning kept him out of harm’s way.

After attending several hockey camps in Ann Arbor, MI, Lin was recruited by renowned coach Red Berenson to play for the University of Michigan Wolverines. While Lin admits he likely was recruited mostly to raise the team’s GPA to meet NCAA standards, he played well in his four seasons, eventually earing a role as an assistant captain. According to Lin, the highlight of his NCAA career was his team’s trip to the Frozen Four in 2018. While the Wolverine’s ultimately came up short, Lin says the experience of playing on the national stage was addicting. Lin joined the Wolverines the same year as Dylan Larkin, and while the two remain friends, he admits it was tough to watch Larkin play in the NHL All Star Game as a rookie while Lin was still in his Ann Arbor dorm room doing biology homework. While Lin says he will miss playing in front of the Children of Yost, he is excited to enter the professional world in the MVHL.

Lin is a true student of the game, studying the tactics of hockey as much as practicing his own skills. On the ice, this deep understanding of hockey tactics allows him to read plays exceptionally well. Scouts have said that sometimes it looks like Lin can see the future, since he always seems to be in the right spot at the right time. Lin hopes this skill will translate to the MVHL, VHL, and beyond. If not, Lin plans to pursue a career in sports medicine.
