  2. The Mississauga Hounds are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Gastroenterology Center of Mississauga, now the official gastroenterological provider for Mississauga’s favorite hockey team. Located right off route 403, GCM will be offering 25% off colonoscopies to patients who show their Hounds pride by coming to their appointment in official Hounds gear (on sale now at VHLM.com). There will also be a new in-game entertainment segment during the first stoppage in the second period where a fan will attempt to “spot the polyp” hidden in the crowd in order to win $50. “We want to be the first ones Hounds fans think of when they need a poke check,” said Dr. Thomas Bailey, the Center’s CEO. “Colon health is important for hockey players and fans alike,” said Hounds’ rookie left wing Linea Alba. Alba is excited that this partnership will help raise awareness of the importance of colon cancer screening. “Most of our fans are men in their 50s, which is when it is important to start getting screened regularly,” said Mississauga GM Berocka. Mississauga will debut their new sponsored segment when they take on the Mexico City Kings in their next home game.

  5. 1) Would love to get a chance to play for the Dragons and be in my hometown 2) Dick Cheesey's been a great linemate, so I would bring him along 3) What is the concussion protocol in the VHL? 4) Uber, I"m still throwing my signing bonus around 5) That he's clearly been working out too much 6) Wait, I'm doing what now? Is this a rookie prank thing?

  7. The Mississauga Hounds fell short 6-4 against the league-leading Ottawa Lynx last night. While last night’s loss extends the Hounds’ losing streak to 4, Mississauga fans have something to hope for in rookie Linea Alba. The Maryland naitive made an immediate impact against the league’s best, notching assists on two of the Hounds’ four goals. Both assists came in the second period as the Hounds attempted to bounce back from a rough first period which saw the Lynx score 4 goals to the Hounds’ 1. Alba’s first career point came after center Dick Cheezy scooped up a shot that went wide and made sure it found the back of the net. Alba notched his second point off a deflection from right wing Adil Mahmood over the blocker of Ottawa netminder Joakim Bruden. Unfortunately their scoring ran dry after just one more goal, and the Lynx’s Ola Vikingstad put the final nail in the coffin with an empty net goal as the clock wound down to complete his hat trick. Speaking to the media about his VHLM experience so far, Alba said that he was “thrilled for a chance to compete at a professional level, but obviously disappointed by the result” Alba shared that he has meshed well in the Hounds locker room, and is looking forward to getting to know his teammates more as the season goes on. When asked if he was at all disappointed that his first professional assists came indirectly, Alba said that he was just happy to be contributing to the team by keeping pucks headed toward the net. Alba also pointed out that there was only time for a single practice with the team between his signing and last night’s game. He expects to produce more legitimate offense as he gets more comfortable with his linemates. Asked about life since moving to Mississauga, Alba said that he’s still settling in. “I’ve been spending a lot of time in the hotel I’ve been in while I look for a place to live. Some of the boys took me to a Raptors 905 game two nights ago. I hadn’t been to a G League game before, but the atmosphere was great. Gave me a sneak preview of what I can expect for our home games.” Alba also shared that he’s been approached by a few local businesses about some advertising opportunities, and that he is excited to start working on that. “In college, I wasn’t able to so much as sell a t-shirt with my face on it, so I’m excited to explore other business options now that I’m out from under the NCAA’s thumb,” said Alba. Alba was coy when asked about what projects he has in the works, but wants to assure Hounds fans that these ventures won’t distract from his work on the ice. He said “hockey is [his] number one priority.” Alba will get another chance at his first career goal when the Hounds travel to Houston tomorrow to take on the Bulls. (Word Count: 500)
  8. 1) Got hooked as a 2 year old after seeing my first game 2) Backstrom with Stamkos' sniping capacity (not that Backy can't shoot himself) 3) Since 2nd grade 4) Homemade salsa. We're professionals though, so they always keep us well fed 5) Not quite as bad as rumored, but yeah, its pretty bad 6) Not as concerned as I am about Berocka, he should probably get that checked out...
  9. 1) While I hope to play in the NHL one day, I didn't get much attention from NHL scouts during my NCAA career. They were too busy looking at Quinn Hughes and Dylan Larkin to notice who was feeding them sauce. So I'm going to make some noise in the VHL and show the NHL what they missed. 2) I'm hoping to develop into a playmaking wing who can set teammates up but also isn't afraid to snipe. 3) They were one of the first teams whose scouts paid me any attention and I'm grateful for that. They also offered me top 6 minutes, and have had a few successful seasons. I'm happy to be joining a team that is already quite competitive and expects a deep run.
  10. I'm hoping to bring some additional firepower as a goal scorer, and also boost my teammates with my passing abilities.
  11. Linea Alba faces the media for the first time as a VHLM player on the eve of his league debut. Ask away!
  12. Yeah! Football, Hockey, and Basketball (I think).
  13. Alba joins Mississuaga After his recent announcement, the Mississuaga Hound’s newest left wing, Linea Alba, took the time to chat with VHL.com’s Vinnie Cheque and Sunny Day for an exclusive interview about his entrance to the VHLM on the eve of the new season. Vinnie Cheque: So Lin, welcome to the league. Care to shed any light on your decision to take your talents to Mississuaga? Linea Alba: Thanks for the warm welcome. I’ve gotta say, its an honor to be talking to you, I’ve watched you two call games since I was a kid. As to why I chose to begin my pro career with the Hounds, they’re a strong team with a great recent history. In my meetings with their front office, they told me to expect a spot on their 2nd line right off the bat, which is great news for a rookie. Sunny Day: Do you have any connection to Mississuaga? Alba: No haha. To be honest, I had to look it up on a map when they first offered me a spot on their roster. Sadly we Americans don’t know as much about Canadian geography as we should. Cheque: Oh believe me, we know. C’est gênant. Alba: Yeah sorry. I know Oh Canada though, if that’s any consolation. I’m excited to move up north though and see what Mississuaga is like. And of course I’m even more excited to make my debut and show the VHLM what I can do. Cheque: Well, we’re excited to see what you’ve got too. Good luck out there. (Word Count: 260)
  14. Accept Thanks for all the offers. I'm going to try my luck with the Hounds for my rookie season!
