Ola Vikingstad, the 25 year old 6'5" monster from Sweden who is projected to be a top 5 draft pick in the S71 VHL Entry Draft, is an excellent 2-way forward with the potential to be a franchise centerpiece. Vikingstad has had an excellent career in the VHLM. With 130 points in 72 games, Vikingstad has shown he has the ability to put up numbers at a high rate. Vikingstad has made back to back VHLM finals appearances and is currently leading all players in VHLM playoffs points (24) and goals (13).

Strengths

Shooting- Vikingstad has proven to be a very good scorer in the VHLM so far. With 56 goals in 72 games last season, it is clear to see this Swede is willing to rip the puck. His large frame is a great asset to his shot as he is able to put more into his shots. It'll be exciting to see how his shot transfers to the VHL.

Defence- Vikingstad is known for his excellent 2-way play. He has spent alot of time on the PK, and has been a key penalty killer for Ottawa this season. Vikingstad is just as reliable in his own zone as he is in the other team's.

Puck Handling- This kid has excellent puck handling. We've seen him use his silky smooth moves to break past the other team's defence all season. His flashy play this season has kept us on our feet, and is a major part of this kid's game.

Weaknesses

Face Offs- As well as he plays on defence, he's been kept out of the circle during key faceoffs this season in Ottawa. His faceoff ability is lacking in the faceoff department. Although we have seen a significant improvement in his faceoff % this off season, it'll be interesting to see if he can keep it up for his VHL debut next season.

Passing- Don't let his 74 assists in 72 games fool you. This kid is a shoot first kind of player. He was lucky to play with such a talented team this season in Ottawa with whom he was able to make excellent plays with. Anywhere else his assists would be nonexistant.

Fighting- This kid is definitly not a challenger for the VHL Heavy Weight Championship. As big as he is, he tries to avoid fights at all costs. A star player such as his self is to be on the ice as much as possible, and taking 5 minutes in the sin bin for a fight isn't going to help him very much.

Overall, Vikingstad is a promising prospect who can make an instant impact on a VHL roster. It'll be exciting to see where he lands and how he performs in his rookie campaign.
