ECN Returns
For 1 Article

With an interesting turn of events, John Frostbeard has retired. His career was interesting with 2 Continental Cups (S68 and S69) with Seattle Bears and S66 Founder’s Cup with Philadelphia Reapers. That said, he was never a true first-line player as he struggled a lot these past few seasons. A solid goalscorer that could hold his own but not one that you can trust every single game.

He has released a statement of his retirement.

“At this moment, I have to focus on other parts of my life and I can’t keep going in VHL playing professionally. I would gladly come and play in a retired player game and meet some of my fellow friends. That said, I am moving back to Latvia. Will frequently visit Riga and Malmo games as one is still my job as a Malmo GM and other is just close to my heart. For everyone who supported my, I wish to say truly huge thanks as without the community around supporting my career would have been nothing.”

It is said that another player from Frostbeard family has declared himself for S73 Draft. A young LW forward names Marshall James Frostbeard. His skills are yet to be seen but some scouting reports say that he is a strong defensive presence and a true goalscorer. He already has expressed willingness to join a team for the remainder of the season that would be competitive and able to support his path towards Founder’s Cup!

On the other news, VHL Trade deadline is coming and a lot of interesting trades have already happened. Malmo traded away their first line and somehow is doing better. Not a lot of cap space left in the league but some teams like Vancouver could want to increase their chances at going for that S71 Cup.

A very underwhelming season for NYA that hoped to be a true contender in NA now is out of playoffs with a roster that should be enough to make playoffs. The biggest problem for them is the ability to sustain their goalscoring and keep their goaltending in check. Right now none of these things is happening but at least after a trade that sent John Frostbeard to NY, they have been pushing harder and getting more wins. If they keep this up, there is a solid chance at making playoffs if other NA teams start losing some extra games.

It will be interesting to see who will be selected 1st in the upcoming VHL draft. SS Hornet has been vigorously trying to prove his worth and currently is sitting ahead of everyone in that draft class. There is a good possibility that someone else could be selected but who would really pass on having one of the most dominant young players in the VHLM.

But that will be it for us here in ECN. After a long break, we returned to disappear again soon. Good luck everyone, see you around! Let us see who will be winning that Continental cup this season!
